Where does your passion for prophecy come from?

On Friday, September 27, 2013, I was interviewed on The God Solution Show with Nate Herbst which airs on KDUR 91.9 and 93.9 in Durango, Colorado. Nate’s show is special because he’s the only Christian program on a totally secular station. With such a fantastic opportunity to share the Gospel with an unbelieving audience, he focuses on apologetics which defend the Christian faith. I came on to share one of the best defenses for why we can trust the Bible as God’s word and place our faith in it — fulfilled Bible prophecy.

Lamb & Lion’s Passion for Prophecy

Nate Herbst: Today we’re going to be talking about a topic that I think is one of the greatest evidences for God, and one of the greatest evidences for the reliability and the trustworthiness of the Bible. That topic is prophecy in the Bible. I know you’re going to be excited to hear what Nathan has to say and that you’ll get a lot out of our discussion.

Nathan, why don’t you go ahead and tell us a little bit about Lion & Lamb Ministries.

Nathan Jones: Sure thing! Actually, it’s Lamb & Lion Ministries. It’s easy to mistake the name. We’ve had people calling us Lemon & Lime and Lion & Leap. But, the ministry is named after Jesus Christ who came first as a a suffering lamb at His First Coming. At Christ’s Second Coming, Jesus is coming as a conquering lion to establish His kingdom here on this earth. So, that’s where we get our ministry’s name — Lamb & Lion Ministries.

Lamb & Lion Ministries was established in 1980 by Dr. David Reagan. He is our Founder and Director.

Every one of us at Lamb & Lion have a great passion to proclaim the soon return of Jesus Christ. We believe as the Bible prophesied and the signs of the times show that Jesus Christ could come at any moment. And so, we are proclaiming that message to as many people as we can, as quickly as we can, that the Lord Jesus is coming soon. That’s what we do.

My position at Lamb & Lion is Web Minister. That means I communicate to the almost now three billion plus people using the Internet with the Gospel and message of the soon return of Jesus Christ.

We have a television show called Christ in Prophecy which is broadcast on six major networks like DayStar, TCT, and TBN. We produce a magazine called The Lamplighter. We offer many books and articles. In essence, we do whatever we can to get the Gospel out to people.

Lamb & Lion Ministries is a non-denominational, para-church organization. In other words, we come along beside churches and we help teach them in areas where maybe they don’t feel comfortable teaching, such as Bible prophecy. We go there to help them teach at their own prophecy conferences, classes, and on radio programs.

Nathan Jones’ Passion for Prophecy

Nate Herbst: Wonderful! Tell us a little bit about yourself, Nathan. You told us a little bit what you do in the ministry, but how did this become a passion for you? How did you get a passion for prophecy in the Bible?

Nathan Jones: I’ve known the Lord all my life. I grown up with Lord. He’s been my savior, my king, and my friend all of my life. I’ve always had a passion for the big picture, and that’s what Bible prophecy is — the Big Picture. Bible prophecy is the 30,000 foot view where you get to see God’s plan from the beginning of history all the way to the end.

In life, we tend to get really stuck on what’s going on now. This results in that we don’t understand where our place is in life and in God’s plan. But, because of God’s prophetic Word, we can understand what God’s plan is from why He created the universe all the way up to the end of human history and into the eternal state. That’s always excited me, because such knowledge gives you an idea of where your place is in the scheme of life. As a Christian, we can answer those questions that non-Christians can’t, such as “Why do I exist?” “Why am I here?” “What’s my purpose in life?” By understanding the big picture from God’s Word, we can answer those questions.

Nate Herbst: Absolutely! Those are the incredibly existential questions that people are always discussing and that I believe are only answered in Jesus Christ. You hit the nail on the head when you say that prophecy in Scripture cooperates with everything else that Scripture tells us about. Prophesy answers those fundamental questions.

In the second part of the God Solution interview, Nate and I tackle the arguments detractors have with the genuine validity of fulfilled Bible prophecy.
