Major Apostasies with Dennis Pollock (Part 4)

Major Apostasies with Dennis Pollock

Will God no longer judge sin because of the cross?

In Part 1, we defined apostasy and debunked a few heresies. Now we’ll look into the heretical view that God will never judge sin.

To help us refute these heresies, we’ve invited one of Lamb & Lion Ministries’ friends, Dennis Pollock, to this week’s episode of Christ in Prophecy. Dennis served as Dr. David Reagan’s Assistant Evangelist for almost 12 years, from 1993 to 2005, at which time he formed his own ministry called Spirit of Grace.

Heresy #5: God Will Never Judge Sin

Tim Moore: Some major evangelical pastors are claiming that the Old Testament has been replaced by the New and so has no relevance to modern-day Christianity. One of the best-known teachers recently said that he has discovered that God is no longer upset or angry with anybody because Jesus took the wrath of God for the whole world onto Himself, and so, therefore, God is no longer mad about anything. Since the New Testament, God has no reason then to ever pour out His wrath. Dennis, why is this thinking unbiblical?

Dennis Pollock: This pastor has been on TV for years. He’s even got his own Bible college! What Bible is he reading? The wrath of God doesn’t disappear once you’ve flipped from Malachi to Matthew. Has he even read the book of Revelation?

One of the statements this pastor made was, “If God ever judges America He’s going to have to apology to Jesus.” In other words, this man now believes that Jesus took everybody’s sins to the cross so that it would now be a sin against Jesus for God to judge any nation or any group of people. Well, that is ridiculous! The whole book of Revelation concerns the pouring out of God’s wrath. And, not only that, but the Apostle Paul accused the sinner of storing up wrath. It will be in the day of God’s wrath as revealed in the book of Revelation when the righteous judgments of God will be meted out. Paul says, “Knowing, therefore, the terror of the Lord, we persuade men” (2 Cor. 5:11). We could give scripture after scripture that proves that God continues to judge sin after the cross.

Tim Moore: John the Baptist said in John 3:36, “He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.” Believe in the Son or one day you will experience God’s wrath. If you reject Jesus Christ, the wrath of God abides on you. It couldn’t be stated any clearer.

Dennis Pollock: Yes, the word “abide” means “remain.” So, what that means is if you are not going to receive Christ, then when you get up in the morning the wrath of God is on you. And, when you go to bed at night, the wrath of God is on you. You are living under the wrath of God when you die, and you’ll pay the price for it at the Great White Throne Judgment.

It’s shocking to me to see how far people drift away theologically. The only thing I can conclude is that they have learned a pet set of doctrines that are not even right, and they hang around other preachers who preach those false doctrines. They don’t really dig into the Word, and so they come to believe in their heresies with certainty. It’s because they’ve heard these lies so many times from so many people, who also heard it from the same group of people, who heard it from the same group of people, and so on.

Just open the Bible and find out what the Bible says, and you can easily dispel false doctrines. With the Bible by your side, you don’t even have to be a theologian to see what’s wrong. Anybody can just open the Bible and read through the New Testament one time. Take out a notebook and start writing down how many times it refers to God’s wrath, God’s judgment, and God being upset with sin.

In Revelation 2 and 3, Jesus says to the Church generally: “I don’t like what you are doing. If you don’t repent I’m going to take your lampstand away. If you don’t repent I’m going to kill some of the people in your church.” Jesus is hot! He’s upset in Revelation 2 and 3 with some of the churches, though not all.

Some people think with the New Testament Jesus they’ve got this Jesus shield. You hold it up over you and then you drink your whiskey and you do all of the evil stuff you desire to do, and all God can see is Jesus, all because you’ve got your Jesus shield up. But, then you read Revelation 2 and 3 where Jesus says, “I don’t like this. I don’t like that. You better repent.” Every time when He writes to those churches, the very first statement He makes is, “I know your works.” In other words, I can see right through your Jesus shield, and I know what evil you are doing.

Tim Moore: Jesus is not a shield so much as He comes within us and transforms our hearts, which permeates our entire being. That is how we are to live out our faith.

Nathan Jones: Plus, our sins are what put Jesus on the cross. So, why would we want to continue living in sin? That would be like you marrying your wife because you love her, but then you cheat on her, you apologize, but you keep doing it over and over again. You take the grace that she gave you and keep throwing it back in her face. Well, these heretics treat Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross and His grace with the same level of contempt.

Dennis Pollock: Yes, they sure do.

In the fifth and last part of this discussion about major apostasies, we’ll next look into the heretical belief that denies the Bible as the very Word of God.

  • Nobody wants to hear/read or learn the truth of God. It’s NOT just apiary it’s heresy what is being taught in most churches today. We are a country just like the Sanhedrin of Jesus’s time we crucify the word of God in every aspect of our lives we live as we choose and anyone who “stands” on the Bible today is a racist/nazi/white supremacist. We are being cancelled” in all aspects of our lives we are not being killed YET for our faith but it’s coming here and soon

  • Yes I agree! Very good. The murder of the Son of God is a far greater sin than failing to live up to the demands of the Law of Moses!

    Matthew 21:33-43 came to mind.

Offended holiness is a huge deal with God as it was in Korah’s rebellion and the case of Uzzah.

“For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God?
Now “‘If the righteous one is scarcely saved,
Where will the ungodly and the sinner appear?’” (1 Peter 4)

  • I have been reading the Christ in Prophesy since I first came across it in one of my searches, and I keep most of the ones I read in my computer and print out my favorites to use for study when I’m not on the computer. I came to really know God late in life, having been born and raised in a family of nominal Catholics and educated by nuns and priests, and very early on I learned ‘guilt,’ but no forgiveness). Sadly, through those years, I only knew about the Pope/s and none of them were or are, Christian. As a result, I didn’t memorize many Scriptures but with the advent of the computer I can call up anything I want to know much faster than I can by reading my Bible.

I am 88 years old and my vision is not the greatest. I became a Christian, born again, and fell in love with my triune God; Father, Son and Spirit. I believe I have the gift of discernment, since the hair on the back of my neck stands up when I hear something that isn’t truly biblical! This terrible pandemic has had a blessing, in a way, because I live alone, no friends or relatives nearby. My church burned down and the members have scattered so I don’t have much contact with the members. Isolation can be frightening at times but it has given me the time to spend in studying.

I know I still have a lot to learn and “Christ in Prophesy” has been a tremendous help because when I come across something with which I don’t agree, I can very quickly get the information I need to check myself. I am a ‘debater’ from way back, and I need to get both sides before I can be convinced about something. Without a Pastor or other more knowledgeable Christians to consult, I can always find something here to keep me on the straight and narrow.

I take umbridge with the idea that God will not judge sin or sinners any more because of the crucifixion. Unfortunately, we are living in a sinful world full of people who follow their own gospel of “If it feels good, do it” and ‘Whatever floats your boat.’, and the entitlement crowd who think they deserve whatever they want just because they were born, and I’m sure He is very sad and terribly angry to see the world He created for His people who love Him. It may come as a shock to some people to know that Jesus who is God)is extremely prejudiced and jealous, and no one can get into Heaven except His people.

This current “black is beautiful’ trend and the ‘woke’ people’, are definitely being led by satan himself. God must be both sad and angry to see what has been done to the world He created for those who love Him. I think He has tears in His eyes when babies are murdered in the womb and worse, shortly AFTER birth! Could a merciful God see this and not get angry? When marriages are few and far apart because people just live together until the get bored, then go on to the next conquest, and children are suffering because they have two moms or two dad does God say OK? ‘ When people say He made a mistake with some boys who want to be girls and girls who want to be boys so it’s perfectly acceptable to make surgical corrections.

When crowds riot and destroy and burn and murder and sell girls and boys into sexual slavery for the money, can the God of the Bible actually look the other way and still fulfil what is required in the Bible to BE called God, and not be filled with such rage that He must judge and punish them all?

I don’t see how anyone who knows what the Bible says, even think that the book can be divided into new and old and have different rules for each part. The Pastor who is mentioned here, tellss me that he has no idea about who God really is. He is trying to separate a ‘triune God” into individual persons but that is all wrong. We only have ONE God who IS all things. He alone, is the Father and the Son and the Spirit, but all three are God and don’t exist separately from the Father but work together as God. The Son IS God and His works magnify the Father and the Son and complete Him. The Son IS God and honors the Father by obedience and the Holy Spirit Is God who together with the Father and the Son teaches and guides God’s children. They are three but together as one.

Yes, it is a mystery and I don’t understand how it happens, but I believe it does because the God I believe in can do everything that is done. Believing is the thing that saves God’s people and those who don’t believe are not saved and will never be saved if the mystery is denied. That is the one unforgivable sin and that is NOT what Jesus died for on the cross. He was obeying the Father part of God and Father God would have no need to forgive the Son part of God who was doing what He was told to do. Likewise, the Holy Spirit God’ is every much God as is Father God and Son God. No one is greater; they are all equal. Holy Spirit God’s job is done when the Son God and the Father God have finished their part of the trinity work. He is convicting sinners today and will convict them until Father and Son God bring Him back to Heaven so that the Son God once again takes over and the evil one is revealed to everyone who is still in this world once the saved are raptured, Then the antichrist will appear and then the tribulation begins the seven years. When all is said and done in the final chapter, all the forgiven will be joint heirs in Heaven with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit for all eternity.

It won’t matter then that it is still a mystery to me; what will matter is that I accept and believe that my God is the one and only God who can be God, and I pray for more faith in my God especially when the world turns against me as it will from time to time.
I don’t know if I have expressed this very well and I hope anyone who can give me more education in this area will add to my beliefs or explain any errors. I also hope that I haven’t confused anyone. I thank God that I am saved, and I know that I am saved. I look forward to the day of my homecoming. Praise God (Father Son and Spirit).
