10 Reasons Why Bible Prophecy Exists (Part 1 of 2)

10 Reasons Bible Prophecy Exists

Did you know that a whopping 31% of the Bible is God revealing how events will unfold before they happen? Our Heavenly Father wants His children to know what the future holds!

God’s prophetic Word has excited us here at Lamb & Lion Ministries for over 40 years now. And, that excitement will never abate in the years ahead, for the Good News and hope-filled message about our Savior’s return is what energizes our passion for evangelizing.

We want you to be invigorated by that same passion as well! And so, I called my fellow Bible prophecy teacher, Todd Hampson of the Prophecy Pros podcast, and we put a list together to share some of the reasons why we believe Bible prophecy exists. (Many more reasons exist, so feel free to add to the list in the comments below.)

Todd Hampson

1. Shows that God Speaks the Truth

Bible prophecy has been given to us to show that God is God. He is the Chief! He is the One in charge. He exists outside of time. He knows everything. And so, whatever God says, you can take it as the truth. That’s why the first reason that Bible prophecy has been given to us is so we can live by that truth.

2. Proves the Bible Is God’s Word

The second reason why God has given us Bible prophecy is to prove that the Bible is God’s word. The fact is that the Bible is the only book ever written that contains genuine, fulfilled prophecies. These prophecies were fulfilled to… the…”T”! Fulfilled Bible prophecy proves the Bible is truly God’s Word and so we can place our faith and trust in it and its Author.

3. Shows God Is in Control

A third reason is to show us that God is in complete control. He is sovereign. That may sound like a big theological word, but sovereign means that God is ultimately in control of every single detail. Bible prophecy puts that fact on display like nothing else.

4. Demonstrates God’s Love

The fourth reason for God giving us Bible prophecy is to demonstrate that God loves us and that He has a plan for our lives. We’re not just floating around on a big spinning orb out in outer space with no purpose and no meaning, as Atheists claim. God has crafted a purpose for every person He has ever made because He loves His children. God has also planned a destination for the faithful. He wants us to live with Him in Heaven and on the New Earth forever. And so, He gives us prophecy to show how world history will end with the faithful living forever with our loving Heavenly Father in the Eternal State.

5. Describes God’s Plan

The fifth reason deals with how skeptics of Bible prophecy misconstrue its prophecies as being too general, or too vague, or too big. But, if you take a closer look, God provides many specific details about His plan for the ages. This plan shows how God is working to bring humanity back into a right relationship with Him so that one day we shall dwell in a blessed time of peace, righteousness, and fellowship with our Creator. Bible prophecy can be very specific and very purposeful, for God explains how His plan will unfold through His prophetic Word.

In the second and last part, we will conclude with the remaining five reasons we’ve listed for why we believe Bible prophecy exists.

  • It would be nice for you to give us some examples of prophecy in the Bible (OT and NT) and from those claiming to have prophecies in modern times.

  • Bible prophecy is one of the best evangelism tools the LORD could ever give us. So many people are at their wit’s end, and Bible prophecy, specifically the return of the Lord Jesus, when clearly presented, gives hope and the promise of order, peace, and the absence of evil forever.

  • A co-worker that had been negative toward any religion begrudgingly read part of my book, “John’s Revelation From A Literalist-Futurist-Pre-Millennialist Point Of View”–primarily to try to polk holes in my beliefs. It opened a dialogue and we began talking about his future under an anti-christ ruled world. He finished the book and accepted Christ. He is leading his family to attend church. You cannot tell me that God does not work through His prophetic word.

  • I’m so glad that Lamb & Lion uses Bible prophecy to explain events past and present, It is after all a part of the Bible that prepares us for whats happening, and gives us understanding. The Holy Spirit dwells in the hearts of true believers. The Lord wants his own to know the truth about events and what is going to happen so they are prepared as his Bride, and are part of the New Jerusalem, and Millenial Kingdom.

  • List all the bible prophecies that have been fulfilled so we can share them along with this article. Maybe throw in some future prophetic messages.

  • Every thing about the life ,the birth and the death of Jesus is prophesy, down to the details.
He is also prophesied to return and gather His church one day, which He will surely do. I pray that you will be among us.

  • I’m curious how you feel about modern day prophesy? Your ministry doesn’t talk about modern day prophets or any gifts of the spirit. I was wondering your views?

    • We here at Lamb & Lion Ministries believe that the gift of prophecy is not the same today as it was when the Apostle John completed Revelation. Today, people with the spiritual gift of prophecy have a passion to share the Good News of Jesus Christ’s salvation with others in the time we have left. They also can discern what the Bible is talking about concerning the end times. They cannot predict what the future is, as God has already given us a full account of what will occur in the Bible.

While Acts 2:17 shows the early Church fulfilled Joel 2:28’s prophecy of the miraculous gifts, Joel was clearly talking about the Day of the Lord which has yet to come. Seems these gifts are coming back stronger we get closer to the Lord’s return, and will fully culminate during the upcoming 7-year Tribulation. We believe if there is a return of the prophetic gift in that real prophecies are being made, it’s reserved for the Tribulation Saints after the Church has been removed.

In order to know that a prophecy is truly from God and will be 100% fulfilled, best to stick with biblical prophecy alone and not with any modern-day prophetic claims.

Here’s our short Inbox video about how to identify false prophets – http://christinprophecy.org/sermons/the-inbox-10-how-do-we-identify-a-false-prophet/.

  • Be Holy, 1 Peter 1:13. Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming. As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do.

1 Peter 2. Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.
