Christmas Prophecies: The Promises

PDF

What does the fulfillment of the Messianic prophecies by Jesus of Nazareth have anything to do with you?

Dr. David Reagan, Dennis Pollock of Spirit of Grace Ministries, and I recently got together on the television show “Christ in Prophecy” (watch it!) to discuss how the fulfillment of Bible prophecy in Jesus of Nazareth has great implications to every person on Earth. To find out what God has promised to those who believe in His Son Jesus — read on!

Dr. Reagan: God’s faithfulness in fulfilling in detail each of the Christmas prophecies concerning the birth of the Messiah is incredibly significant because it gives absolute assurance that God will likewise faithfully fulfill all the prophecies He has given to Christians regarding the soon return of Jesus. God has made some great promises to the Church.

Dennis Pollock: He certainly has, Dave, and that’s why Paul wrote that, “The sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared to the glory that is yet to be revealed to us.”

Dr. Reagan: And likewise, in 1 Corinthians 2:9, Paul wrote, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, nor has the mind of man even conceived, what God has prepared for those who love Him.”

Nathan Jones: One day very soon Jesus is going to appear in the heavens and take the Church — both the living and dead — out of this world. On the way up we are going to receive glorified, immortal bodies that will never age again and never again feel any pain. After the Tribulation, we will return to earth with Jesus to help Him reign over the earth. We will see this world flooded with peace, righteousness, and justice as the waters cover the seas.

Dr. Reagan: And, Nathan, those are only a few of the glorious promises that God has made about the future. We can be assured that God will be just as faithful in fulfilling those as He was in fulfilling all the promises He made about the first coming of the Messiah.

  • David, Nathan,
On the prophecy promises/fulfillment thingy… Over the past 40 yrs I've heard a lot of scholars & evangelists throw out various numbers about His 1st coming & His 2nd coming and comparing it to our down-payment concept of 10% down with 90% on redemption and various verses citing the down-payment/fulfillment example. I've heard numbers as high as 300 prophecies concerning His 1st coming & 3000 about His 2nd coming… I know you've whittled it down to 109 [& I suppose I'll have to buy your book to ck up on you…ha ha] but any thots on the ratio aspect?

  • We will be transformed and will not age…my question is will we all be a uniform age?

Are 2 year olds going to remain 2 year olds and 90 year olds the same?

My speculation is we will all be similar in "age" to Adam and Eve at their creation.

Anyone else have an answer or speculation?

  • our ressurrected bodies will be like that of Jesus`. a man reaches his peak at 30-35yrs so in all likelyhood that will be our age. at our prime. i`m away for the holidays so i cant really investigate till i get back but that seems to be the likely answer.

  • Wow! This Blog is great. Just like Kim Clement. Kim Clement is an diverse and extemporaneous perspective has gained him notoriety that transcends culture, race and religion, placing him onto a world platform. He has performed at the Rose Bowl Stadium in California, Times Square in New York City, Mt. Carmel in Israel and even the steps of the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C.

  • DrNofog, Dr. Reagan's spent 7 years scouring the Bible for prophecies concerning Jesus Christ resulting in his book The Christ in Prophecy Study Guide. He concludes there're 300 prophesies concerning Jesus' First Coming. Some overlap so there's 108 in the book and recently he says he found a 109th.

There are about 500 prophesies concerning Jesus' Second Coming. The differing final numbers by various people come from one's own interpretation, but I've heard most Bible prophecy teachers conclude right on the 109 for the First Coming. Hindsight has a heaping helpful hand in indentifying, wouldn't you agree? Which is the reason the Second Coming prophesies have a much larger fluctuation of final numbers.
