Are we witnessing ancient prophecies concerning the nation of Israel being fulfilled today?

Lamb & Lion Ministries conducts a number of Bible conferences in the Dallas, Texas area each year. Our June 2013 conference theme was Living on Borrowed Time (watch). We also hold a special banquet afterwards, and there is where I gave this all new presentation on the prophetic significance of the resurgence of Israeli military power since the establishment of the state of Israel in 1948.

Seven Amazing Prophecies

The focus of end time Bible prophecy is the nation of Israel. That’s why the reason that the establishment of the nation of Israel on May 14th, 1948 is so important. It’s the event that signals the fact that we are now living in the end times.

During the Twentieth Century, though we are living in a very dark time, we have been privileged in seeing Bible prophecies fulfilled right before our very eyes. There are seven specific prophecies that I believe are in the process of being fulfilled in the Jewish nation right now that we are having the privilege of seeing.

The first prophecy is the re-gathering of the Jewish people from the four corners of the earth. This was prompted by Theodore Herzl’s book The Jewish State which was published in 1896. There were 40,000 Jews in all of Israel in 1900, and today there are slightly more than six million Jews in Israel.

The second prophecy is the re-establishment of the state of Israel, which occurred in Tel Aviv in a small room there on May 14, 1948.

The third prophecy concerns the reclamation of the land of Israel. When the Jews started returning to the land in the early Twentieth Century, it was a malaria-infested swamp land. The highlands were all completely denuded of the trees. There were only 15,000 trees left in all of Israel. Today Israel is the bread-basket of the Middle East and its forests have been replanted.

The fourth prophecy being fulfilled is the revival of the Hebrew language. In Zephaniah 3 and Jeremiah 31, we are told that when the Jews are brought back into the land they will start speaking biblical Hebrew once again. The language that God had given them, they stopped speaking for almost 2,000 years.

Wherever the dispersed Jews went, they took Hebrew and they mixed it with the native language. They ended up speaking really two major languages: they mixed Hebrew with German and developed Yiddish, and they mixed Hebrew with Spanish and developed the language called Ladino. But, when they came back to the land of Israel, they are today speaking not just Hebrew but Biblical Hebrew.

The person who was responsible for reviving the Hebrew language was a man named Eliezer Ben Yehuda. He was born in Lithuania and raised up by God to revive the Hebrew language. He did it almost single-handedly. He was a fanatic! That’s all he focused on his entire life. Six months before he died, he was allowed to live long enough to see the British adopt three languages as the official languages of Israel in 1922: one was Biblical Hebrew, another Arabic, and the third English.

The fifth of these prophecies is the reoccupation of the city of Jerusalem. This is prophesied over and over in the Bible — that in the end times the Jews will reoccupy the city. That was accomplished on June 7, 1967, when they reconquered the Old City and rushed to the Wailing Wall to praise God and thank Him for their victory. As they were praying, Rabbi Shlomo Goren came up to the wall and blew his shofar. When everybody stopped praying and looked around he said, “I proclaim to you the beginning of the Messianic Age!” He knew that the prophecies say that when the Jews are back in the land and back in the city of Jerusalem, the Messiah will come.

The sixth prophecy involves the resurgence of the Israeli military. Let me tell you something, this is a remarkable miracle!

I got on the Internet to check these figures out to make sure, and all of the research groups that rank military power in the world rank Israel as between number 10 and number 15 in military power in the world right now. We’re talking about a nation that is only 300 miles long and only 75 miles wide. It’s one of the smallest nations in the world, and yet it’s one of the world’s great military powers. In fact, they not only rank it that high, but most of them rank Israel number one in the effective use of its power.

The seventh prophecy would be about the refocusing of world politics upon the nation of Israel and the city of Jerusalem. The Bible says that in the end times this will be the last of the prophecies fulfilled about Israel. All the nations of the world will come against Israel for the purpose of forcing them to give up the city of Jerusalem. And today, the whole world is in the process of doing just that.

In the second segment of our study on the end times sign of the the resurgence of the Israeli military, we’ll look at some of the miraculous military victories Israel experienced in the Old Testament.

  • Will the nations going against Israel be in the form of the peace 'treaty' or will it be actual, physical war against Israel?

  • Nathan, I have a major question or doubt to ask you and other experts of this site! What exactly do you understand by the word Anti-christ? And who can be an antichrist? Don't you think sinners of humanity are antichrists or is it something only related to Christians? Then what about the corrupt bureaucrats and government personals, greedy politicians, selfish & perverted rich-classes, false priests & pastors (living lavish lives and engaged in child-sex & child molestation), etc., etc.? (Hope you regularly read various newspapers/news-sites).
I have read in many sites that Obama is deemed to be the antichrist. But then, what about the ones (mentioned above) who are hidden from public eyes? All the countries (including European and American) are filled with them. What exactly does Christ or Bible teaches us…just prophecies??? Nothing about humanity??? So even if, those satanic kinds of people (mentioned above) belongs to Christianity, someone who will go against them will be termed as Antichrist??? If not, then what is the role of the Antichrist? Bible is too vague about this term Antichrist and 75% of the sites (like yours) are dumping upon their own views on it and then deeming so and so as an antichrist. Is Christianity bigger than Humanity??? (Hope I don't have to explain what humanity truly means). Did Jesus just created/enhanced/formulated a new kind of Religion and nothing else? If not, then will Anti-christ be against Christians only or against entire Humanity? Please clarify logically.

  • Do you have a link for the scripture that goes with each prophecy? I would like to read and mark it in my bible . Thanks

  • Sadly a careful reading of the alleged verses that are claimed to constitute a prophecy of the revival of Hebrew, once you go back to the original Hebrew, won't support the interpretation. I say that with regret: I would love it to be true, but the fact is that they don't.

  • Anonymous, there are some aspects of Obama that preclude him from being the Antichrist. He's not from Rome, he is not a homosexual, and he's not part of the EU. He could be one of the members of the church in apostasy (harlot riding the beast) who would sell out the United States into the Antichrist's empire.

Nobody can guess who the Tribulation's Antichrist will be at this time, and the Church will be raptured beforehand so won't know until we return with Jesus at the end of those seven years. I never bother then to speculate who it may or may not be.

For answers to all your questions on the Antichrist, check out this article and this article.

  • Bruce P., no language comes back from the dead after almost 2,000 years. That means something, and we should take extra special notice when it's Israel, which is the focal point of the end times.

You'll likely find the book Tongue of the Prophets which is all about the revival of the Hebrew language fascinating.

  • The scripture in Daniel 11:37 "Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all." Speaks to a man who considers himself a god. The part about ' nor the desire of women' in this context refers to women having the hope of being the mother of the Messiah. So the antichrist is to be feared for his denial of all that is Truth and Holy. God Bless.

  • This is weird & funny.
People are taking out meanings of the bible verses according to their own wish. I have personally compared different/same topics from around 6 sites related to Ministries (most of them have pretty high hit statistics), and came to this conclusion. May be I'm wrong, maybe.
Regarding antichrist, the meaning of "have no regard for the desire of Women" in "Daniel 11:37" over here is interpreted as Homosexual. Please!!! Women's only desire is sex??? And if its not Regarded by someone, then he's just a Homo??? I don't get it!
