Do you believe we are living in the season of the Lord’s return?

Dr. Reagan: This is the second part of a series where I interview Roberta Roberts Potts concerning various topics related to Bible prophecy.

Let me ask you, Roberta, a fundamental Bible prophecy question: Do you believe we are living in the season of the Lord’s return, and if so, why?

Roberta Potts: First of all, I just want to say that this is an unfair question. You’re the teacher and I’m the student, so there is my disclaimer. Lawyers love disclaimers, so now I have said my disclaimer.

But, yes, I absolutely believe we are living in the season of the Lord’s return. Of course, “season” is the operative word there. I think the fact of this foreshadowing comes from what we’re seeing concerning the signs of the times like the rise in the earthquakes and all the pestilences that we are seeing. We are seeing so many things happen that Jesus said would happen from Matthew 24. It’s not that just one sign alone is so important, just one of those signs alone, but the fact that so many signs are all happening all at the same time. The others, for example, would be the rapid march towards a one world government, the rise in sexual perversions, and all those other signs Jesus listed in that chapter. We are seeing them all happening at the same time in this one generation. That speaks volumes to me.

Dr. Reagan: Do you see Israel playing a role in the end times?

Roberta Potts: Oh, absolutely! In fact, I will never forget that day in June of 1967 when I got a phone call from my sister. I had just turned 16, so I was just able to drive, and my sister calls me and says, “Roberta, you have to come over here right now. You just have to stop what you are doing and come over here.” And, I thought, “Oh, no, one of the children is sick.” So, I drove over to her house and she the asked, “Roberta, do you realize what’s happening in the world? Do you realize that Israel has the Temple Mount?” I’m like, “Huh? Well, so?” And she goes on, “Roberta, do you realize what that is prophetically? That means so much!” She then preached to me a whole sermon about Bible prophecy.

Dr. Reagan: It sounds like your sister knew Bible prophecy, too.

Roberta Potts: Oh, yes. She was just on cloud nine because she knew that some of the prophetic events could not take place unless the Jews had what I think the Bible refers to as the “mountains of Israel.” And there it was, on that day when the Six Day War began when Israel took the Temple Mount, well that was highly significant. So, yes, I believe without Israel we’re kind of sunk when it comes to saying we’re in the season of the Lord’s return.

Has the Church replaced Israel and taken her promises?

Dr. Reagan: I think I know then what your answer to the next question will be. That question has to do with what’s called Replacement Theology, which says that the Church has replaced Israel and God has no purpose left for the Jews.

Roberta Potts: If you really believe that then you just have to throw out the Bible, because the Bible from beginning to the end is God’s Word to the Jewish people. There’s not a word in the Bible that was written by a Gentile. It was all written by the Jews.

Anyway, how does one explain Revelation without the regathering of the Jews? How do you explain the chapter where it lists all the tribes? And, how do you replace Israel with the Church during the Tribulation? It doesn’t make any sense. Rather, Revelation becomes nonsense.

Dr. Reagan: It’s called spiritualization. You just spiritualize the passages you don’t understand and when you spiritualize them you become God, because then you can make the Scriptures say whatever you want them to say.

Roberta Potts: I think that is a very dangerous area.

Dr. Reagan: Yes, Replacement Theology is a terrible teaching, claiming that God has replaced Israel with the Church. God has given so many wonderful promises to Israel and He plans to fulfill every one of them to a remnant of believing Jews. But, God’s given equally great promises to the Church. We as the Church don’t have to covet the promises of Israel. After all, God’s promised us new bodies. He’s promised us that we will reign with Him over the earth. Why should we covet the promises of Israel? And yet, I know why we do. It’s because of anti-Semitism, which is supernatural in nature. I’ve met people who hate Jews with a passion, and yet they’ve never even met a Jew before. Satan puts it in people’s hearts to hate the Jewish people.

Roberta Potts: Such hatred is so, so sad.

Dr. Reagan: It is so sad.

In the next segment of my interview with Roberta Roberts Potts, she will continue to answer questions concerning Bible prophecy, such as: “Does Bible prophecy have any relevance to the present?”

  • Does Israel or the Jewiah faith know they are in the Christian end time Revelation? Do they believe the signs and seasons are right for the Messiah to come the first time for them? Do you think they will be tricked by an antichrist?

  • Anon, from the Sep-Oct 2012 Lamplight Magazine, Pg. 12:

    "Prophecy in Israel —
Israel Today magazine recently reported that
one of Israel’s largest websites, Ynet, recently
    featured a yellow banner proclaiming
the soon coming of the Messiah. Clicking on
the banner took the browser to a religious
website whose unknown creators warned about the end of the
world and declared that the current government of Israel would
be the last one. “The next leader will be the Messiah Ben David.
The situation in the country is getting worse and the government
will become more incapable. Only the Messiah can save Israel
during the war of Gog and Magog. In the near future the world
will witness terrible disasters, like earthquakes and tsunamis.
Cities in Europe and the United States will disappear in the sea.
The world’s financial system will collapse, and God will destroy
the Mammon (Yiddish slang for ‘money’). Anti-Semitism in the
world will get worse, just like on the eve of World War II. For
every inch of land that the government abandons, the people of
Israel will be punished for, because this is a rebellion against
God. Solely because the two-state solution was discussed in
Israel, we must pay a high price. This land was promised to the
people of Israel for eternity, and anyone who negotiates about the
God-given land will not experience the redemption.”

  • Billy commment conitues: Previous comments should have read "Lamplighter" Magazine.

From that little blurb I'd say some know about Bible prophecy in the ends times from the OT. It sounds like they are looking for the FIRST coming of the Messiah, not the second. But little do they know after all the horrors they predict come true they WILL realize Jesus already came and cry out to Him as Savior as He comes to save them at the end.

  • Thank you Billy. You answer so many things I wondered about. This generation will see it. God have mercy on us all.
