The Truth Will Set You Free

Why are some churches betraying the Jewish people?

In this “The Truth Will Set You Free” TWave Radio episode, Pastor Vic Batista of Miami’s Calvary Chapel Aventura and I will discuss the end times war found in Psalm 83.

The Church’s Betrayal

Vic Batista: I remember before I first became a Christian I had a dislike for the Jewish people, but never really understood why. Now I know that the Enemy influences so many so they’ll have a prejudice against God’s people. Therefore, we need to be careful because Antisemitism is inspired by Satan’s demonic influence. Thank God when I was born again and I began to read the Bible the Holy Spirit began to show me the plan that God has for the Jewish people and how much He loves them. It really changed my perspective toward the Jewish people.

Nathan Jones: Praise the Lord! We are definitely seeing many churches and church leaders giving up their traditional support of Israel and turning against the Jewish people and supporting the Palestinians. The Palestinians are the descendants of Israel’s enemies. How many churches are now siding against God’s people? Can you believe Christians actually are hating God’s people. When I use the term “God’s people” obviously the Church, those who believe in Jesus as Savior, are God’s people as well. But, God has never said that He has gotten rid of the Jewish people as His people as well.

Many of the Jews of today have turned on God and they don’t believe in His Son, Jesus Christ. As a matter of fact, 85% of the Jewish people in the world are Secular Humanists. They don’t believe in God whatsoever. And yet, God has promised that one day a remnant — a third of the Jewish people — by the end of the Tribulation will accept God and Jesus as Savior. So, we are going to see the Jewish people transformed from Secular Humanists to Messiah followers of Jesus Christ, Yeshua Hamashiach. One day a Jewish remnant are going to follow Jesus.

That the Jewish people will one day be saved, that’s another reason why Satan hates them. Satan wants to thwart God’s plan. To accomplish that goal, he must destroy the Jewish people. I think that hatred that Satan has is emanating and effecting the whole world to hate Israel unlike any other country on the planet.

Vic Batista: God is not through with His people. Need proof? That is what we read in Romans 11 in Paul’s writing. He wrote, “I say, has God cast away His people? Certainly not! For I also am an Israelite of the seed of Abraham, or the tribe of Benjamin.” God has not cast away His people whom He foreknew. I believe another ploy of the Enemy is to make people think that God is over and done with the Jewish people and that the Church has taken over, right?

Nathan Jones: Exactly. Romans 9-11 are fantastic chapters to read about God’s will for the Jewish people, though they are three of the chapters most churches today avoid. Churches do so because they believe the Jewish people are done in God’s plan. He didn’t destroy them completely when the Romans destroyed Israel in 70 AD. God cast them aside and He put His focus on the Gentile world to give them with the Gospel.

There is a time coming when the Gentile world and those Jews who have accepted Jesus as Savior will be raptured off this planet. Believing Gentile and Jew alike will be taken away before this time of Jacob’s trouble, this Tribulation period that’s coming. One of the reasons for this Tribulation and for the end time wars come against Israel is to get the Jewish people on their knees and get them to give up their Secular Humanism and turn to God and His Son, Jesus Christ, at Savior.

Vic Batista: Excellent point, Nathan! We know that those people who believe that God no longer loves the Jews clearly would have tear out those chapters in Romans, right?

Nathan Jones: They would have to. It is scary especially among the liberal denominations how they will study through Romans, but they will skip right over Romans 9-11 as though these chapters didn’t even exist. That is tragic because the Church has had such a strong influence in our country traditionally in supporting Israel. Israel has received a lot of support from the United States because of our Judeo-Christian roots. But, as we continually and very quickly abandon our Judeo-Christian roots, we are seeing that the United States politics are turn against Israel. We are seeing churches as they become more liberal and apostate turning against Israel. This hatred that Satan has for the Jews is permeating both Christians and non-Christians alike for the purpose of destroying Israel.

This Antisemitism then is the setting for Psalm 83, where we see the beginning of a coalition of nations that want Israel destroyed. Israel has repelled quite a number of attacks from these nations. As soon as they became a nation in 1948, the infant nation repelled the five strong nations surrounding them. In 1967, Israel not only repelled these hostile neighbors again, but took a lot of what is now called the Occupied Territory, the land that originally the UN promised in the Balfour Declaration to Israel, so they can now better defend themselves.

The world and now sadly many churches want the nation of Israel destroyed. The result, when we look at some of the end time wars, three of them are against Israel. The Psalm 83 War is the first between Israel and the nations directly surrounding Israel. The Ezekiel 38 & 39 War is next and contains an outer ring of Islamic Nations and Russia trying to destroy Israel, but fail. By the end of the seven-year Tribulation at Armageddon, finally all the nations of the world come against Israel in the attempt to try to destroy her.

Vic Batista: Once again we see God’s hand protecting the Jewish people. God’s hand is upon all these events. That is believers in Christ should not fear, because we know what is coming. We also know where our foundation lies, right?

Nathan Jones: Exactly! That’s an excellent point.

In the sixth segment of our survey of the Psalm 83 War, Vic and I will look at how among all this turmoil Christians can have hope for the future.
