The Mighty Angels of Revelation 18 and the Voice From Heaven

MP3: The Mighty Angels of Revelation 18
Hosts: Nathan Jones & Vic Batista

Babylon, the Global Government

Vic Batista: We are continuing our study of God’s mighty angels found in the book of Revelation by reading chapter 18 concerning the fall of Babylon.

Nathan Jones: As we study through Revelation we have been looking at the narrative from God’s angels’ point of view. There are 72 references in the New King James Version to angels. God uses angels to carry out His will throughout the book of Revelation.

So far we’ve been covering a topic that stretches across Revelation 17-18, and it concerns a one-world religious system described as the Harlot System, or Mystery Babylon. This religious system betrays the true worship of Jesus Christ. It’s an ecumenical movement whereby all the religions of the world lock arms together, ie “coexist.” But, the Antichrist hates this system because she rides on his back into power. Halfway through the Tribulation, the Antichrist finally destroys the Harlot religious system. He walks into the newly rebuilt Temple in Jerusalem and has the audacity to declare himself to be God. He then demands that the world worship him.

So, Revelation 17 covers the first half of the Tribulation concerning a global religious system called Mystery Babylon. Then in Revelation 18 the Antichrist destroys the Harlot System and sets up his own political/religious system that worships Satan through himself, called Babylon the Great.

Revelation 18:1 reads: “After these things I saw another angel coming down from heaven, having great authority, and the earth was illuminated with his glory.” The Angel Having Great Authority flies down out of Heaven in all his glory and with great authority. He might be Michael the Archangel himself, though I doubt it as Michael is often named outright in other biblical references.

In Revelation 18:2 this angel makes a declaration about Babylon the Great. “And he cried mightily with a loud voice, saying, ‘Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and has become a dwelling place of demons, a prison for every foul spirit, and a cage for every unclean and hated bird!'”

Babylon is described as a city which the world has committed fornication with for the purpose of growing rich. Unlike the Harlotry Mystery Babylon of Revelation 17, this Babylon the Great is the Antichrist’s political and economic system which he will use to rule over the world. Revelation 18 foretells the bleak future of a world economy ruled by one capital city and one vile man — the Antichrist.

Vic Batista: Reading about Babylon makes the spiritual warfare being waged right now among our own governmental powers here in America and around the world seem minor by comparison.

Nathan Jones: When it comes to the culture war here in America, it seems like we Christians just cannot win a battle lately, doesn’t it? Every law coming out of the government, ruling in the courts, or social movement supported by society has been nothing but evil and oppressive. Eventually there must come the persecution of Christians as an evil society tries to pry God out of every corner.

All this rise in evil, we know due to Bible prophecy, must happen for the setting up of the nations of the world to join under the one umbrella of the coming world dictator. The Bible says that eventually the Antichrist will rule the world and all the nations will be part of his empire, except for Israel, and so he tramples and fights Israel throughout the second half of the Tribulation.

We are already seeing a real push with most countries to join a one-world global system. President Obama is very much a globalist. He even said how the world is growing closer to that end. We are not there yet, but he believes we are getting closer to the one-world global system these globalist believe will solve all the world’s problems.

We are also seeing how Israel continues to buck the globalist system by refusing to lay down and die. The world, even today, is crying out for global leadership to fix all of its financial and ecological problems. These warning signs show the world is getting much closer to the point where God’s people will be taken up in the Rapture by Jesus Christ. we are told in the Bible that, Christians will be taken off this planet before the world plunges into chaos, both spiritually and economically. After the Rapture, the nations will cry out for a world leader to fix their problems, and so the Antichrist rises to power and will create a kingdom which the Bible calls Babylon.

The Voice From Heaven

Vic Batista: Notice the loud call from Heaven in Revelation 18:4. “And I heard another voice from heaven saying, ‘Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues.'”

Nathan Jones: The mighty Angel Having Great Authority has been declaring the end of Babylon, but then in verse four the Apostle John hears another voice calling out of Heaven. While the text doesn’t say who belongs to this voice, I believe this voice may be Jesus Himself because He says “my people.”

Why does Jesus command His people to come out of Babylon? “Lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues.”

Vic Batista: What an incredible passage! I have made verse 4 my personal life verse. Even though I know that I’m not going to live on earth during the time of the Tribulation, I’m obeying the call of God’s people to come out of the worldly system.

Nathan Jones: Some people have connected the call in verse 4 to our modern day times. Obviously, historical Babylon was in Iraq. Today, in that same area, ISIS has been marching in conquest killing off all of the Christians they’ve encountered, leading some to claim that this verse is being fulfilled by ISIS that we are now living in the Tribulation. ISIS is certainly evil and is trying to build a worldwide, evil empire. It’s an empire whose foundation is built on killing Christians. Whatever Christians are left, they should indeed come out of Iraq.

But, what we are seeing today with ISIS, well it’s not a global empire, so could not be living in the Tribulation. What we are seeing with ISIS is a prelude of what it would be like living during the Tribulation. The Antichrist will not stand to have other religions competing with his own, so he marches maniacally to destroy the Tribulation Saints and the Jewish people who will refuse to bow down to him. Christianity and Judaism will be the two remaining religious systems that will be fighting against the Antichrist’s own religious system.

So here, I believe, is Jesus Christ calling down from Heaven addressing “my people.” He is calling His people to come out of this evil, political/religious system.

Vic Batista: There is a call to America today, made by great men of God, calling Christians in America not to follow the worldly system. Christians are being called to not get sucked into living a worldly lifestyle, as the Media often portrays, but the need for Christians to live in the world but be separate from it. Christians need to live differently than the world lives.

Nathan Jones: As Christians we are supposed live as the Bible commands — as salt and light. Salt brings out the flavor of food and light provides guidance on our walk. Christians must bring the salt and light of Jesus Christ to the world.

Remember that the Tribulation will be the darkest time period in all of human history. While the entire 7-year time period will be absolutely horrible, by the end of the Tribulation, life will be as wretched as this planet has ever seen. The Tribulation makes the Flood look mild by comparison because it’ll be such a dark and evil time.

The light during the Tribulation are those people who become saved. They are the ones whom Jesus is calling out of Babylon. He’s saying not to get swept up in the love of money and luxury. Don’t sell out your soul for temporary pleasures, such as the people of Babylon have pursued.

Vic Batista: This call from the Heavenly Voice should be a wakeup call to all Christians that we need to recognize what is coming upon the world soon. We can see the world system of Babylon in its infancy right now. The push for a global government screams right to our faces by the world’s elite. It seems, though, that people are so confused by this growing deception. They are being distracted by wealth and luxury. So many people and nations live under great economic debt because of their love of money. And yet, we know from Bible prophecy that the entire global economic system is all going to come crashing down in the end.

Nathan Jones: It will! Bible prophecy points to an inevitable, global economic crash. Financial disaster is inevitable. Today, not only does each country, but almost every individual, are so loaded down in debt that we can barely function. You can’t have three times more debt than there’s actual money on the planet! Eventually we will live to see a global collapse.

Does it also seem to you like the nations are actually being pushed towards an economic collapse? Why are we spending like fiends thinking there will be no tomorrow? We live like there’s no due date on the bills. I believe the reason is that once you up heave a world economically then you can rebuild it into whatever you want it to look like. That is what the Antichrist will do. The forces that desire a global government are pushing the world into bankruptcy so they can reform it under a one-world ruler. This isn’t conspiracy theory; it’s basic Bible prophecy.

In the fifty-first segment of our series “The Mighty Angels of Revelation,” we will hear the judgment cry of The Voice!
