The Mighty Angels of Revelation 21 and the Eternal Temple

MP3: The Mighty Angels of Revelation 21 Continued
Hosts: Nathan Jones & Vic Batista

The Eternal Temple

Nathan Jones: To think that the entire city of New Jerusalem forever revolves around God. He dwells at its center.

Revelation 21:22-27 describes the Eternal Temple, or lack thereof:

“But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light. And the nations of those who are saved shall walk in its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor into it. Its gates shall not be shut at all by day (there shall be no night there). And they shall bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it. But there shall by no means enter it anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.”

Most Christians have likely seen models and pictures of the Old Testament Tabernacle in the back of their Bibles, and the same with the Temples. Two Temples have been built, then there will be a third during the Tribulation, and finally a fourth Temple during the Millennial Kingdom. Each is a little model, a shadow, of what the Heavenly Temple is actually like.

The New Jerusalem places God at the center. Just like the Tabernacle and Temples beforehand, God dwells in the Holy of Holies. The whole city revolves around the light and the glory of God.

The Creation is back in fellowship with God once again. Can you image talking to your Creator and having fellowship with Him? You won’t have to worry that you are going to screw up and say something wrong because of your sin nature. To be with our Heavenly Father and Christ our Savior, someone who sacrificed His own Son on our behalf to allow us access, that time is what the faithful have been waiting for.

It’s a shame that we have to spend time here on this earth doing what we need to do before Christ comes. But, sharing the Gospel and doing good works is our mission right now. Those works apply towards our eternal rewards and our position in Heaven where we will be given different types of authority. I’m looking forward to doing as many good works as I can for the Lord while here on earth as we wait for our eternal home — the New Jerusalem.

Vic Batista: Revelation 21 is indeed an incredible passage and it’s just amazing what the Holy Spirit opens up to us when we read through these Scriptures.

Nathan Jones: The glory of the New Jerusalem is God Himself, and He needs no Temple anymore because the entire city is the Temple.

Vic Batista: Revelation 21 refers to nations and how corruption will never enter into Heaven. No one will be allowed to mess up this beautiful paradise.

Nathan Jones: Those who are corrupt, who cause abominations, who lie, who defile things, and live in rebellion against God; they all dwell in the Lake of Fire, also known as Hell. For the New Jerusalem and the rest of the universe, only purity resides.

God Himself sits enthroned at the center of His universal dominion. God is the source of light and His glory illuminates the entire universe. We who are the residents of the New Jerusalem get to live right there with God, seeing His glory daily as it shines through our dwellings. Mankind was made originally as creatures of light, and not of darkness. We will be energized and sustained in life by living within God’s glorious light.

Vic Batista: Today we need the sun, the moon, and starlight in order to be able to see. But, the time is going to come when God is going to be the all in all.

Nathan Jones: Revelation 21-22 brings all of human history to its final conclusion, and yet we barely know what the future truly holds. Who knows exactly what God will achieve during the Eternal State. Maybe there will be another creation. Maybe there will be other species made. Maybe we are not the first creation after all. In the Eternal State, will time have no meaning? God is the God of Creation, so I’m pretty sure He will never be done creating.

Vic Batista: What incredible adventures await us in the Eternal State! We haven’t been there yet and we don’t have the mind of God. He’s only given us a mere glimpse in Revelation 21-22 of the wonders ahead so that we can understand only what our finite minds can handle.

Some doctors claim we only use about 10% of our brain power. Can you imagine working off of your full capability in order to take in all that God has planned for us to see?

For the reader, if you don’t have the saving relationship with the Lord that makes your entrance into Heaven possible, I want to encourage you to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior right now. I believe that the Lord is coming very, very soon. Is your soul prepared? I want you to experience the wonders of Heaven with us.

In the seventy-seventh segment of our series “The Mighty Angels of Revelation,” we’ll discover more about the wonders of the Eternal State in Revelation 22.
