Bible Prophecy Issues with Daymond Duck: Jesus Will Never Return

Daymond Duck on Bible Prophecy Issues

Christ in Prophecy was blessed to have as our special guest, Daymond Duck. Daymond is an expert on Bible prophecy who preaches, teaches, and writes prolifically about the subject, particularly on the Rapture Ready website and in his best-selling book The Book of Revelation: The Smart Guide to the Bible Series. The following are some tough questions concerning issues in Bible prophecy that he deftly answered for our program’s hosts Dr. David Reagan, Col. Tim Moore, and Nathan Jones.

Are we living in the season of Jesus Christ’s return?

Tim Moore: Quite a lot of people think that we cannot know when Jesus Christ will return and so conclude that there’s so no point in talking about it. Some even go so far as claiming that Christ’s return is not something that Jesus has any interest in us studying. But, we believe that we can indeed know the season of the Lord’s return, which is why He provided the world with the book of Revelation. Revelation is not the testimony or revelation of John the Apostle, rather it is the Revelation of Jesus Christ, which was given to John to share with the Seven Churches and the whole world.

Daymond Duck: I believe Jesus when He said in Matthew 24 that we cannot know the day or hour of His return, but we can know when Christ’s return is getting close. The Bible clearly says that we can know when it is getting close because there are signs given to watch out for. There will be a convergence of all of the prophecies related to the rebirth of Israel, Jerusalem becoming a cup of trembling and a burdensome stone for the whole world, and so forth. We are seeing a lot of these prophecies coming on the scene right now.

Dr. Reagan: The Bible gives us many, many prophecies about the signs of the end times. There are so many, in fact, that I found for years collecting them was like trying to nail Jell-O to the wall. I just couldn’t get a handle on them. Finally, I put them into categories. There are signs of nature. There are signs of society. There are spiritual signs, both positive and negative. There are signs of technology. There are signs of world politics. There are signs of Israel. And, as you pointed out, they’re all coming together now in convergence for the first time ever.

Daymond Duck: That’s right! And some of these signs, such as the ability to track all buying and selling, that is required for the Antichrist to rise on the scene, are recent developments. Electricity and barcodes and satellite and rockets, well these inventions did not exist back prior to AD 70, but they do exist today.

Dr. Reagan: And, just consider Revelation 11 which prophesies that the Two Witnesses are going to be killed and lie on the streets of Jerusalem for three-and-a-half days and then be resurrected, and the whole world will watch it. How could the whole world watch before the mid-1960’s when we finally had satellite television?

Daymond Duck: That’s right that these Second Coming prophecies could not happen before certain technologies came into being, but they can certainly happen today. The whole world watching an event on the news can literally happen today.

Nathan Jones: Everybody could just pull out their smartphones and watch an event from almost anywhere across the globe. China has begun to scan faces for their national social currency ratings using millions of cameras.

Daymond Duck: China passed a law requiring that they cannot manufacture smartphones over there anymore unless the phones can scan your face. The Chinese government knows where their citizens are at all times for it tracks where the smartphones are.

Are people who are interested in the book of Revelation fanatics?

Tim Moore: Quite a lot of people discount the book of Revelation, calling it a playground for fanatics. And yet, a Christian who is determined to understand what God has clearly revealed to us to understand about the end times is going to be smart to go to God’s Word in believing faith, believing that they can understand, and so claim the promise of Revelation.

Daymond Duck: Remember that the book of Revelation is a commentary on Matthew 24. If one were to throw out the book of Revelation then they would need to throw out the Olivet Discourse from the book of Matthew. They’d need to throw out the book of Luke. They’d need to throw out the book of Mark. They’d have all kinds of problems because Revelation’s prophecies are also mentioned in Matthew, Mark and Luke.

Dr. Reagan: They’d also have to throw out most of Isaiah. If you want to find out more about the Millennial Kingdom, you don’t find out about the Millennium by reading the book of Revelation, for all it gives us is the information that it’s going to last a thousand years. All the truly detailed information about the Millennium is found in the Old Testament, particularly in the book of Isaiah.

Nathan Jones: I was surprised to learn from your book, Daymond, that 404 verses make up the book of Revelation, but it includes nearly 800 allusions to the Old Testament. Revelation then acts as the capstone for the entire Bible.

Dr. Reagan: Not a single one of those allusions are identified by John. Not a single one! Matthew, for example, was always saying, “As it says in…” “As it says in Jeremiah.” “As it says in Isaiah.” But, there is not one reference in the book of Revelation to the Old Testament except it quotes it. Revelation just doesn’t say specifically where it is alluding to, so you have to know the Old Testament to recognize the allusions.

Daymond Duck: When it comes to the authorship of the book of Revelation, Jesus is the main writer while John is just the human writer. This is the same John who wrote 1, 2 and 3 John. This is the same John who wrote the Gospel of John. This same John wrote, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son.” The same John wrote, “Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.” John’s no fanatic by writing Revelation. He’s the same John who Jesus entrusted with providing for His mother Mary. Therefore, the book of Revelation is not at all for fanatics, but for everyone.

Tim Moore: Jesus was indeed the author of the book of Revelation. When Jesus was tested by being tempted by the Devil, Jesus quoted Scripture. John was providing Jesus’ revelation to the world, and the Apostle John was citing Scripture because Revelation is also the Word of God. Jesus is using the Word of God to proclaim His revelation through the Apostle John via the book of Revelation.

In the fifth and last part of our interview with Bible prophecy expert Daymond Duck, we will explore whether the Rapture and the Second Coming are the same event or not.

  • Thanks to all of you for your sound teaching! Can you help me? I’m struggling with understanding if Mat 24, Luke 17:26-34, 1 Thes 5:1-11 etc. are to be applied to the time of the rapture or the 2nd coming. Logically, these verses seem to reference the time before the rapture, but in context they seem to address the time of the 2nd coming.
BUT how can the time just prior to the 2nd coming be described as a time when people are feeling “peace and safety”; and will the world at that time be living a lifestyle similar to the days of Noah?
ALSO, how can Jesus come at that time as a thief in the night when it would be easy to calculate his 2nd coming by counting forward 7 years after the tribulation starts?
AND what does Luke 17:34 mean about one will be taken and one left?
Can you bring clarity to me about these issues? I’d be so grateful to have a better understanding of the Scriptures I’m questioning
