The Mighty Angels of Daniel 10: Michael Fights the Future

MP3: The Mighty Angels of Daniel 10 Continued
Hosts: Nathan Jones & Vic Batista

Michael the Archangel

Nathan Jones: Back to Daniel 10 and the identity of the Messenger Angel, we’ve speculated that likely he is the Angel Gabriel, the chief messenger of God, sent to Daniel with an epic prophecy.

Let’s say the Messenger Angel is God’s foremost messenger — the Angel Gabriel. Daniel 10:13 explains how he battled Satan’s prince of Persia for 21 days, that is until God reinforces the encounter with Michael.

Michael is no ordinary angel! Michael serves as the archangel. He’s the top angel. He ranks as the four-star general. God sends His four-star general to come down and help Gabriel fight the Prince of Persia. So, whoever this Prince of Persia — this demonic entity — is, he stands out as one of the most powerful in Satan’s army, because God has to send in the big gun to defeat him.

Why does such a powerful demon as the Prince of Persia and the mighty angel Michael come into play? Because when it came to Israel, the Persian Empire stood out as the major empire that ruled over Israel during Daniel’s time. The Prophet Daniel earlier in chapters 2 and 7 prophesied about the world empires that would affect Israel over the next few hundred years. He started with the Babylonia Empire, which had first exiled the Jews. The subsequent empire was the Medo-Persian Empire, and then eventually the Greek Empire, and finally the Roman Empire. These empires stood out as the Gentile nations which trampled Israel, and their Gentile descendants will continue to trample Israel until Jesus Christ returns.

Satan fires his biggest guns against Israel, but God has assigned His most powerful angel — Michael — to serve as the protecting angel over Israel. Michael remains to this day the chief protector of Israel. That’s why today when we watch the news we see the Jews at war against their surrounding hostile neighbors and still overcome tremendous odds. When evil terrorist organizations such as Hamas commit acts of terror against Israel but never gain any ground, and when you hear stories about missiles being rained down into Israel and all of the sudden the missiles change course and miss their mark, or when a Jewish soldier walks into battle and he defeats twenty guys all by himself, you better believe the Jews are not achieving these supernatural victories all on their own. These amazing stories are happening each and every day in Israel. Angelic warfare pervades every victory and every defeat, but specifically behind the successes of Israel stands the Archangel Michael guiding their military actions.

Vic Batista: The Bible tells us that to God Jerusalem remains the center of the earth. God’s eye remains fixed on His favorite parcel of land. Miracles happen in Jerusalem every single day. Though, few of those stories make the mainstream news. God’s detractors never highlight God’s victories.

Nathan Jones: True, you have to watch particular news outlets in order to learn about these amazing stories. The mainstream media is clearly owned by Satan, no doubt there. It almost never reports on anything pro-Israel. The world grows increasingly Antisemitic. Satan’s minions hide a lot of what is truly going on in the world. I’m not getting all conspiracy theorist here, but the pattern is readily apparent. Liberal news organizations are laser focused on the mundane, such as what the movie stars are up to, what horrors Bruce Jenner is doing to his body and reputation, and an all out hate-fest of Donald Trump. Almost never do we learn from the mainstream media about the important events that are going on related to Israel. Hell forbids the world sees the proof of God’s works through the Jewish people, and even less how quite a number of Jews have been coming to know Jesus as their Savior. God continues to work through the Jewish people today just like Daniel’s day some 2,500 years ago. Satan works hard to hide God’s accomplishments.

Vic Batista: Where I pastor in Aventura-Miami, a lot of Jewish people dwell, and my church has seen firsthand a few Jewish people come to Yeshua by the Holy Spirit’s work. I’ve personally witnessed the eyes of Jewish people being opened to accept Jesus Christ, the very people who used to be very hard-hearted to the Gospel. God is still at work! And, God’s mighty angels remain busy aiding in the work of saving the lives of people today.

Nathan Jones: Praise the Lord! Surely your church has been utilizing the spiritual weapons of prayer, fasting, and Bible study in your outreach efforts to reach people for Christ.

Michael Fights the Future

Vic Batista: The Archangel Michael stands out as an amazing individual. Throughout history, from beginning to end, Michael has been involved. Take, for instance, Revelation 12:7-8 concerning the works of Michael the Archangel.

Nathan Jones: Revelation 12:7-8 reads:

“And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer. So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.”

This passage takes place during the middle of the seven year Tribulation, the worst time in all of human history that will ever befall the earth. In the middle of the Tribulation, Satan attempts one more time to overthrown the heavenly realm. Satan has been given access to the throne room of God up to this point in order to accuse the Saints, while Jesus’ defends us saying something like, “I took the punishment on Myself. You have nothing to argue about, Satan!”

So, Satan tries one more time to overthrow God. Revelation 12 reveals that God commands His Archangel Michael and fellow angels to fight the Dragon and his angels, otherwise known as Satan and his demons. No longer will Satan be allowed access the throne room of God until his final day of judgment and punishment. Michael casts Satan and his demons back down to earth where they only have three-and-a-half years remaining before Jesus’ returns to wreak havoc on Satan’s fallen forces at the Second Coming.

Vic Batista: What a fascinating insight covering both the Daniel 10 and Revelation 12 passages together. The duties and accomplishments of Michael in God’s war against Satan’s forces, both here as Daniel is praying and then over 2,000 plus years later into the future during the Tribulation, merit substantially. When the great battles are being waged in the spiritual realm, there we see Michael once again engaged in battle. The Bible wants us to know the strength of the warring angels that fight on both God’s and our side.

Nathan Jones: The Archangel Michael should stand tall as a symbol of hope for the Jewish people. Israel remains defended by God’s mightiest warrior. Surely the Jews have endured millennias of hardship and grief at the hands of Satan and his forces, but only what God has allowed. We read in the Bible, especially in the Minor Prophets, that because of Israel’s sin and rebellion against God, He has allowed them to endure a period of chastisement. But, the time of chastisement shall soon come to an end. Even though the Jews have suffered horrendously over the last few millennia, still they have always been protected by Michael so that a remnant will remain who will finally accept Jesus Christ as Savior when He returns. God’s still plans for the believing remnant of Jews to become a priestly people for Jesus Christ during His 1,000 year kingdom.

In the forty-second segment of this series on the mighty angels of Daniel, the Messenger Angel reveals God’s prophecy.

  • I am enjoying this Bible Study. This is letting me know that I need to do more studying. Thank you, LouElla Lepley

  • I have a problem with why it is alway overlooked that Israel is Jacob not a land. And people overlook the Parable of the Fig tree in Jer. 24.

    • Rebecca some people are blind to be protected. Not only that, you have so many who pretend cause they don’t get down in the WORD of GOD. The WORD of GOD is on so many levels of learning. Don’t Judge unless you want to be Judge! When GOD does the protecting of His people! Just be careful! Revelations is not the End Book, Either! Daniel was told to close up the BOOK til the End! Daniel is Old Testament not the New! GOD will talk to His people when they truly seek HIM! HE tells us so in scripture! Remember, Satan will pretend to be Christ, Peace, Peace, prosperity. But he’ll be here to raise alot of trouble for GOD’s people. So, many people don’t know that the country Iran is Ancient Persia in the WORD! John 1:1 In the begining was the WORD, the WORD was with GOD, The WORD was GOD! Same as the I AM, in Exodus.
The Old & New Testaments are interlocked. From your comments; I know you read GOD’s WORD this does my heart good. .. In GOD’s LOVE, Theresa A. Wood

  • Wonderful writing! As a terminally-ill chi Tim of the horror that is pancreatic cancer, I have been immersing myself in study of the Angels. My first focus has been the elusive Gabriel, the Messenger.

I am Roman Catholic of the Irish persuasion, and I think being Irish helps me better accept the existence of beings living in both our realm and God’s Kingdom in Geaven.

When my priest, (a Maryknoll missionary with over a decade of serving God in Africa, tending to the sick and poor – he is also a physician) and I last spoke together when he visited my sick bed recently, we talked about how we can relate our pain to that experienced by Jesus on the cross.

When the pain gets intense, and even the pain meds aren’t doing much, I try to focus on Jesus in His torment. I am wearing out my rosary beads with “Hail Marys”.

And it helps. I am here to say that looking to Christ’s torment through the lens of my own suffering has been a blessing to me.

All prayers for my safe return to my God are graciously and humbly accepted, and thanks to anyone moved by my sad little story. 🙂
