The Perfect Politician

Vic Batista: Daniel 11:36 and following explicitly explains the Willful King’s personality. The Antichrist’s anti-God character speaks volumes about this vile future world ruler.

Nathan Jones: Daniel truly acts as the Revelation of the Old Testament. Daniel was given a lot of information about the end times and about the Antichrist that help us understand what Revelation teaches about this coming world dictator.

Let’s back up for a minute to Daniel 8 again, where the Antichrist’s “little horn” imagery goes into even more detail. Daniel 11:23-26 explains how very insolent the Antichrist will be. “Through his cunning he shall cause deceit to prosper under his rule; and he shall exalt himself in his heart. He shall destroy many in their prosperity. He shall even rise against the Prince of princes…” The Little Horn believes he is the top dog, and so he will become, if only for a little while. “But he shall be broken without human means.”

Not only will the Antichrist act insolently against God and any morality, but he will tear down human laws in order to institute his own lawlessness.

He is also remarkable deceptive and shrewd. “Through his cunning he shall cause deceit to prosper under his rule.” This cunningly deceitful man stands out as a very gifted politician. At first he comes across as an incredible peacemaker. He knows how to effortlessly manipulate people, which bolsters his rise to power.

In the First Seal Judgment of Revelation 6, a rider on a white horse who carries a bow that has no arrows rides out as God’s first judgment upon the world. The bow demonstrates how the rider conquers the world, but his lack of arrows shows he doesn’t use military force. He doesn’t need to, for he’s thrust into power by sheer charisma. “His power shall be mighty, but not by his own power.” It appears the Little Horn will be elected president of the world, not at first because he conquers, but because the people will willingly want him to rule over them.

Someone who can talk their way into ultimate power must possess quite a number of exemplary traits. He may represent the best of the best of humanity, the most peaceful, the most loving, the most handsome, the most wonderful, the most smart, and the most shrewd.

The world will descend into chaos after the Rapture, so the people will cry out for this magnificent individual to lead the world to safety. Of course, he willfully accepts. He shows his true colors yet black heart once he gets into the position, but his rise to power is as if he sailed in on a magic carpet.

Embrace the Promise

Vic Batista: The fact of life is, if you don’t have a saving relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, you won’t be rescued from God’s wrath by the Rapture. Where would you end up then? Should the Rapture happen today, you would witness the rise of the Antichrist and be caught in the middle of the worldwide slaughter he’s about to bring upon the world. The Bible is warning us that hell on earth is coming!

That’s why today should be your day of salvation. Today is the day you can come to Jesus Christ and put your fears to an end. Perfect love casts out fear (1 Jn. 4:18).

Nathan Jones: It’s certainly easy to be fearful when reading about the horrors of the Antichrist. To know that a one-world ruler will actually one day soon enslave the planet and kill off much of the world’s population is certainly something to be fearful about.

But, not for Christians in our day. If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior, the Antichrist is not in your future. Rather, your future holds the path of being raptured up to meet the Lord in the air and then spend your forever in Heaven with Him. Christians before the Rapture are promised never to have to endure the Tribulation time period (1 Thes. 1:10; 5:9; Rom. 5:9; Eph. 5:6; Col. 3:4; Rev. 3:10). God’s wrath on the world and Satan’s wrath through Antichrist are not for the believer in Christ in this age.

Place your faith and trust in Jesus Christ as your Savior. Embrace the promise of John 3:16. “For God so loved the world that He gave His One and only Son, and whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Make that your life verse. Place your faith and trust in Jesus Christ and you shall be saved.

The first segment of this series on the mighty angels of Daniel began with a tragic back story. In the seventieth segment, we’ll start finishing up our look at the amazing prophecies contained in Daniel 11.
