Radio Week: Earthquake in Haiti

In February I was interviewed by Vic Batista, senior pastor of the Miami-based Calvary Chapel Aventura and host of the radio program Eyes on the Word. “Pastor Vic” (as he likes to be called) was born in the Dominican Republic and is as active in planting churches there as he is in southern Florida, reaching out with the Good News of Jesus Christ to both English and Spanish speaking audiences. Lamb & Lion Ministries is also blessed to be having Vic as our opening speaker in October’s Future Hope Conference (keep an eye out on our Events page).

Pastor Vic Batista

In this “Eyes on the Word” episode, we discussed the devastating magnitude-6.2 earthquake Haiti experienced on January 12, 2010, that crushed their capital of Port-Au-Prince. We looked to the Bible for an answers to such soul-searching question as “Why God?”, “Did God cause those nearly 200,000 deaths?”, “What was the purpose?” and “Does this earthquake fit into a larger prophetic scenario?”

Listen to what God has to say through nature in this impacting 30 minute radio show!

Bob Mitchell is a Postie, and he did post on here a while ago. Bob has made a very interesting observation on his site that I found very thought provoking.

Bob Mitchell wrote "The Eyjafjallajökull volcano in Iceland erupted sending plumes of ash into the air and heading right for Europe.
This caused planes to be grounded for several days. We, like many others, had family and friends literally stranded abroard.

On a spiritual note however, it was around the same time the UK tourism board refused an ad from Israel showing the Western or Wailing wall in Jerusalem as a "must visit" spot for those touring Israel. The UK objected saying the wall (probably Judaism's most Holy site) was not part of Israel and therefore could not be advertised as such in order to encourage tourism.

The Lord God of Israel passes a blessing or a curse on those who either bless or curse the Jewish people. Well to state Judaism's holiest site as not Jewish surely is a smack in Israel's face.

    So what happens?
God causes an Icelandic volcano to erupt and prevent tourists visiting the UK.

London alone lost literally hundreds of millions of pounds in lost tourist revenue.

But there is another point to this. Europe the EU has become increasingly anti-Israel and anti semitic attacks have increased all over the European Union.

So God sends an ash cloud to Europe.
    Not just at any time.

But at the precise time the Jewish people remembered the Holcaust and the ashes of the 6 million Jews who were murdered in Europe during the Second World War.
At that very moment God pours ash over anti-Israel / anti semitic Europe."

  • The earthquake in Haiti though tragic in human toll and suffering will pale in comparison to the earthquake recorded in Ezekiel 38:19-20. The casualties from this quake centered in Syrian territory also identified as the "Plain of Bashan" opposite the Golan Heights will be staggering.

The message from the Lord God to all the nations will be loudly declared, their will be no question in relation to God being the divine protector of Israel. These present earthquakes are but birth pangs leading up to the delivery of the greatest in current history. The Holy Name of the Lord God will be exalted in all the earth.

  • It's interesting that you point that out EI. It seems that the punishments are fitting the crimes, so to speak. UK slaps Israel in the face by saying the Western Wall isn't in Israel and your tourism drops.

John McTernan, author of As America Does to Israel, believes that because the Obamanation the that causes desolation is halting building in a Jewish neighborhood by Jewish people, that our construction industry in the US is going to suffer.

  • Son of Thunder
Lets hope that the UK and the US don't interfere with Israel's Sanitary Industry!

  • Nathan,

Thank you for posting this mp3/podcast. I enjoyed hearing the zeal both you and Pastor Vic have for missions. My aunt was 90 minutes north of Port Au Prince, on a short-term missions trip, when the earthquake hit. Our family went for days before the cell phone system worked. We were spared grief that day, but how many did not get Good News and are grieving the loss of love ones today?

Do you think it may be a severe case of B.O., cause they have sprays for that?

Mind you, can't beat a good old fashioned lather of soap and water (deter-gent?).
