Truth of the Christian Worldview: Saul Alinsky

Saul Alinsky

PDF

Who is Saul Alinsky and how did his ideas get into the highest offices in the United States?

During the last weekend of June each year, Lamb & Lion Ministries conducts a Bible conference in the Dallas, Texas area, with 2010’s themed Defending the Faith. The opening speaker was Brannon Howse, the Founder and Director of the Worldview Weekend Foundation, an organization that sponsors Christian worldview conferences all across our nation every year. Brannon is also the author of eight books and is the host of a nationally broadcast radio program which features his biblical commentaries on current events.

Brannon’s topic at our conference was “The Truth of the Christian Worldview” (watch). He began by explaining that a worldview consists of the basic values that determine a person’s decisions. Thus, a person with a Christian worldview would be one who believes in God, believes in the Bible as the Word of God, believes that Jesus was the Son of God, believes that Man is basically evil, and believes that faith in Jesus is mankind’s only hope.

Brannon emphasized that there is a worldview war going on between Christianity and five other predominant worldviews, namely: Secular Humanism, Cosmic Humanism (better known as the New Age Movement), Post-Modernism, Islam and Marxism. He then began to elaborate on the key individuals who have undermined the Christian worldview here in the United States. Brannon’s presentation was based on his latest book titled Grave Influence. In the book, he presents 21 persons who are undermining America and impacting the world from the grave.

Brannon Howse on Saul Alinsky

Saul Alinsky is someone that I look at in my book Grave Influence. He also is involved in this spiritual battle because guess who he dedicated his book to? Satan. I think the dedication has been taken out of some of the books now, but I have some of the originals where the foreword was dedicated to Satan. Lest we forget, at least a over the shoulder acknowledgement, Satan was the very first radical from all our legends, mythology, and history. Lucifer was the first radical known to man who rebelled against the establishment and did so effectively that he won his own kingdom.

President Obama studied Saul Alinsky and our President taught Saul Alinsky. Our Secretary of State Hilary Clinton wrote her thesis on Alinsky. Alinsky wanted her to come work for him, but she decided to go instead to be a staffer on Capitol Hill.

We have people that are committed to the ideas of Saul Alinsky, who was a neo-Marxist, “neo” meaning “new.” He is a new kind of Marxist. What does that mean? He did not believe that you could have a revolution through guns and bullets. He believed the way to have a revolution that lasted was to penetrate every institution of a culture — education, church, law, science, economics — and bring it down. It is what the Italian communist Antonio Gramsci called “the long march through the institutions.”

Saul Alinsky studied Antonia Gramsci. Gramsci said to Mussolini, “You are going about this all the wrong way. Not guns, not bullets, change their hearts, change their worldview, and they will love their servitude.” Mussolini didn’t like what Gramsci said and threw him in jail where he died. Alinsky studied Antonio Gramsci. Obama studied Alinsky and even taught his book Rules for Radicals. Hilary wrote her thesis as I said on it. It is the philosophy that is running today.

What all did Alinsky say? He said that a community organizer. He used the word “change” in his book over and over, and by “change” he means revolution. He used the phrase “community organizer,” which is what our President was. A community organizer is first and foremost committed to relativism.

What does the Bible say about relativism? In Genesis 3:1-5, Satan appears to Adam and Eve and says to them basically, you decide what is right and what is wrong. This is one of the very lies of humanism, and that is what a community organizer must be committed to, that truth is relative.

You see, it is so important that we teach that truth is not relative, but truth is absolute. And what is truth? The Bible says, “Thy Word is truth.” Why is “thy Word” truth? Because, it is a reflection of God’s character and nature. It is so important that we are hooking the Bible to the character and nature of God, otherwise we are involved in teaching legalism to our kids and that the Bible is a book of rules of do’s and don’ts.

We must connect truth to the character and nature of God. Why don’t we murder? Ask a young person and they will then say, “Because the Bible says not to.” Why does the Bible say not to? Because, God does not like murder. But, why does God not like murder, and why does the Bible say not to murder? That is the end of the conversation. They don’t know. The answer is, “The Bible says not to murder because God is opposed to murder as murder is not consistent with His character and nature.

Why is purity right? Because, God is pure. Why is honesty right? Because, He is truth. Everything must come back to the theology and doctrine and the character and nature of God.

Synthesis of Opposing Ideologies

Let me tell you what Julian Huxley, the brother of Aldous Huxley, said years ago. This is what he said would happen. “At the moment two opposing philosophies of life confront each other, you might categorize the two philosophies as two Super Nationalisms, or as Individualism versus Collectivism, or as Capitalism verses Communism, or Christianity versus Marxism. I don’t care what you call it.” He said, “You can call it whatever you want. But, can these opposites be reconciled? This antithesis be resolved in a higher synthesis? I believe not only that this can happen, but through the inexorable dialectic of evolution, it must happen.”

What is Julian Huxley saying? He’s saying these opposing ideas will merge and they will synthesis to produce a mixture of both, and people will follow them. For example, Marxism and Christianity came together and we call it Liberation Theology or Social Justice. Reverend Jeremiah Wright and Reverend Jim Wallis and many of our church denominations are buying into it. I saw one major denomination has a leader who keeps on talking about the importance of social justice. We have one major evangelical leader inside the Southern Baptist sitting on a U.S. Muslim Engagement Committee with people who he says are moderates, but when I researched them they are outright radicals. They are not moderates. You cannot rebuild bridges with people who want to kill you!

Why do we need to call it Social Justice? Why do we use their phrases? Why do we have to have these stupid conventions where these guys with their silly dyed straight up pointed hair and big thick black glasses looking so immature trying to be so relevant need to get together and have a retreat coming up with one of our major denominations on how to write a thesis on what “missional” means? Why do we have to be so cute by half? Why can’t we just simply say we are going to fulfill the Great Commission and use the biblical terms?

  • Hello Nathan
My friend Lisa found this for me; I thought others may find it useful? It compares Rick Warren’s version of Scripture with the NASV written in his PDL book.

"A Berean's Discernment Tool for The Purpose Driven Life" (Bob DeWaay)

  • In these dark days, it should be clear that faith and politics does not mix well. The fact is, we who are believers are subsequently labeled extremists and a threat to national security. The kingdoms of this world are under the control of Satan that is clear in the temptation of Yeshua as recorded in Matthew 4:8-9.

The belief that we can change the direction of this country by being involved politically stands in contrast to the Word of God. We are a declared enemy of this world system. Many Church leaders have attempted to find their stake in the political arena and have compromised their faith and principals in the process.

Is it our duty as Christians to be political activists or is it our duty to share the Gospel? This is a world in rebellion against all things of God, only those now preaching a universal and all inclusive false gospel are accepted. Rick Warren and Joel Osteen are a prime example of this.

  • Nathan, perhaps you are correct, for me it is hard to reconcile the fact that when Christianity becomes the business of the State that the worst attrocities seem to occur, in the butchering of millions. I am well aware that the inquistitions, pograms, and many of the murderous campaigns exercised against innocent people were a result of false Christianity. The danger however is that when Christians seek political power over men, in so doing they pursue a Theocracy that perverts the truth and produces a deadly result.

When candidates are up for election and both are pro-abortion or for gay rights, who then will you vote for? The fact is that this is a fallen world that labels us as "Bible Thumpers" and enemies of the global establishment. We can see clearly where the political arena is going, it seems that the candidates no longer represent the biblical principals we hold dear and we are left with no real choice politically.

  • "Politics" and "Religion" are identities!

Some of the most effective lies of Satan to silence Christians and get them to drop out of "politics" are: "You shouldn't discuss politics or religion", "You can't mix politics and religion", and "You can't legislate morality".

America would not have come into existence if our Founding Fathers had believed this unbiblical tripe that distorts the meaning of "politics". The laws against murder, theft, rape, etc. in every nation ARE legislated morality as a matter of public policy!!!

"The Law", written over 150yrs ago by Fredrick Bastiat, is an excellent, easy to read pamphlet that shows the dilemma posed to the righteous when there are immoral laws and legalized plunder instituted by governments.

I am not a "Dominionist" nor a "militant Christian", but I do know what the Word say about our duty.

In Luke 19:11-27 there can be no doubt that Jesus is speaking of Himself in this parable "…because he was near to Jerusalem, and because they thought that the kingdom of God should immediately appear.
12 He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.
13 And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come."

Now this Greek word for "occupy" is not like when we receive junk mail addressed to "Occupant" like some couch-potato that takes up space in a house, but rather, it is a classical military term to be "in control".

Matthew 25:14-30 is parallel: 14 For the kingdom of heaven is as a man traveling into a far country, who called his own servants, and "delivered unto them his goods" clearly means that He has put the things of His Kingdom in our charge.

Now contrast His servants and their duty to be in charge with the reactions of the "citizens" of this world and their fate:

14 But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us…"

"…27 But those mine enemies, who would not that I should reign over them, bring here, and slay them before me."

In Philippians 3:20 the King James Version says: For our "conversation" is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ. "Conversation" in old English doesn't mean our "yakkity-yak", "talk-is-cheap", but rather our "manner of living", as it is correctly translated in other versions [ie. a man's word is his bond and honor], and it is also correctly translated "Citizenship" in other versions. It is the Greek word "politumai" from which we get "policy, politics, metropolis", and other combinations.

So the "policies" that we, as Christians, are to "govern" our lives by are from the Kingdom that we, as ambassadors, are to represent to "citizens" of this world.

Brannon Howse uses the term "worldview" and has effectively described the "religion" of the world.

When you consider that even Atheists have some philosophical outlook, moral reasonings, "policies" that they consider to be "right" or "wrong", this is their politics, this is their religion.

Our failings here in America is that we have bought the lie and left our charge in the hands of unbelievers against the wise counsel of our Founding Father, against the Word of God in Roman 13, and against the laws of our country:

"It is not the function of our Government to keep the citizen from falling into error; it is the function of the citizen to keep the Government from falling into error."

  • DrNofog AMEN and AMEN!

In Victorian times women like Elizabeth Fry changed women and children’s prisons.

Florence Nightingale started nursing soldiers at the ‘front’ and changed hospitals.

Dr. Barnado saw the poverty and neglect of street children and began orphanages.

These and others like them did it through challenging Parliament and making their politics work for Jesus Christ in the hearts and lives of neglected people while teaching His Word.

  • Yeshua also said that my kingdom is not of this world…nor are we of the world. We are called out of the world. The world system is one of corruption and violence. The term to occupy is comparable to the reply Yeshua gave to Joseph and Mary when they searched for him, finding him among the learned scholars of Israel. Did you not know I would be about my Fathers business.

The Great Commission does not include running for political office, we already are representatives of a higher office. Perhaps in the days of our Founding Fathers matters of faith were considered matters of the State, however, we now live in a secular society where biblical values and principals are discarded like yesterdays newspaper.

This is a New Age, or as it is written on our currency Novus Seclorum Ordo or New Secular Order. We can not change society through politics. The day in which Roe vs Wade is repealed, then I will believe we have a fighting chance, yet clearly Molech requires more sacrifice. Christianity is not exercised behind a curtain in the ballot box, it is exercised in our witnessing to others.

  • What political party represents your brand of Christianity? Democrat or Republican? Even the once conservative party of the Republicans have opened the gates of hell in accepting gay marraige and abortion. Neither party represents biblical principals. We are definetely occupying in the sense that the Church is seeking to establish itself politically and become social engineers. The motivation is not to bring society to Christ but to initiate their own personal kingdoms, believing with political power comes wealth. The Harlot of Revelation comes into view in my mind.

  • Rodney said:
"…The term to occupy is comparable to the reply Yeshua gave to Joseph and Mary…"

Dude, you totally lost me on that one. That's neither the meaning of this strong word nor the clear context.

Brannon has aptly pointed out that from very early on Marxists/occultists have clearly identified Christianity as the enemy that must be subverted by subtle "change" and "social justice" propaganda. These minions have infiltrated our Christian colleges with just such a namby-pamby doctrine of demons that teaches a choice of only 2 alternatives:
    1.) a false piety of separation from the world system to the point of "being no earthly good", a salt that no longer participates, permeates, and retards the spoilage, and;
2.) a tortured Rom. 13 of unquestioning subservience to the state.

Both of these positions denigrate the memory and work of those Christians and Statesmen who have taken the Christian battle into the den of "Politicians", as EI pointed out, and those in the other countries around the "world"…

"What political party represents your brand of Christianity? Democrat or Republican?"
Those who do not explore worldview "choices" beyond what the Lame Stream Media presents would not
know there is a viable [Christian] Constitution Party that ran a strong campaign with Chuck Baldwin, a Godly Bible scholar, teacher, and founder-pastor of Crossroad Baptist Church, for President.

"We are definetely occupying in the sense that the Church is seeking to establish itself politically and become social engineers."

  • Part2
You say "we" and thereby blur the distinctions of the aspirations of the ecumenical, Rick Warren-type, New-Age Harlot with that of ill-informed, misguided Christians who have been lied to and cow-towed into shirking their duty to obey our government [Rom. 13] and participate as required of well-informed citizens, as I have pointed out above.

Daniel accepted his God-given political position as counsel to the King of an ungodly empire, and rather than seek to subvert the empire, he served with honest effort and prayed for God's protection over the King & his empire, to the glory of God.

"Perhaps in the days of our Founding Fathers matters of faith were considered matters of the State…"

And perhaps a more in-depth study of the history of America and its Founding Fathers would mitigate such an unfounded and unbiblical viewpoint.

David Barton, of Wallbuilders, has an excellent article dispelling the ungodly myth that American patriots were in violation of the Gospel and Rom. 13, entitled: "The American Revolution: Was it an Act of Biblical Rebellion?" – http://www.wallbuilders.com/LIBissuesArticles.asp?id=24548

Our Founding Father had a far greater understanding of history, worldly governments [beginning with Nimrod, and not Gen. 9:6 as is falsely taught by government minions], "divine right of kings", and the Bible. The form of government that we were given is that "We The People" are Caesar in America, and just as God delegated a portion of His rulership over the earth to mankind, we delegate representation and "limited authority" to public servants.

But what if Caesar abdicates? Will not the scurrilous "public serpents" then become our masters? Is this then the fault of the world system, or of Christians who have believed the lies and given up their authority?

"We can not change society through politics…Christianity is not exercised behind a curtain in the ballot box"

And again, you cling to mistaken notions of our duty, and that "politics" and "religion" are not the same thing; a worldview that encompasses both.

  • DrNoFog, I agree politics and religion are the same. The problem is that Christianity is not a religion. Religion is a system of works to find favor of a particular god or deity. That is the problem I see today among Christendom, they are seeking to forge it into a religion.

We as Christians can not impose our faith politically upon citizens through policy. The Bible clearly identifies that those presently of carnal minds having not been "Born Again" will not have understanding concerning the will of God nor his purpose for their lives.

Their are many organizations today among Christendom that seek to consolidate political power and create a moral utopia, yet in the end they would be no different then that of the Pharisees. Immorality and a seered consious is a personal choice. Government imposed moral obligations will serve to increase rebellion.

We do not need another Constantine to establish Christianity as the religion of the empire. The fact is this version of Christianity was one of perversion mixed with paganism and other false religious rights giving rise to Catholicism. The Christian faith is based on an individual choice, not to be imposed be theocratic apostates which seek to mold Christianity into another religion through a system of works, making the moral authority little gods before men.

  • Rodney – I do agree with many things that you are saying, but I think we are also caught up in the game of semantics that requires clarification. One of the key points involved is also defining which of the many different target audiences you are addressing, a distinction I mentioned above.

God inspired the writers of the Bible to use clear language delineating between "we, they, us, them, saved, and lost", as Paul writes in Hebrews, and John in 1 John 2:19 "They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.

In general, both Bible and secular scholars use the term "Christendom" to include all of so-called "Christian" history, even as Jesus described in Matthew 13:24 "The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field…" in the parable of the wheat and the tares, though Christians know will know which events are of which seed.

What I see in the majority of your posts in this particular series is you seem to have this same over-whelming, LSM, Marxist-instilled fear that if Christian are ever allow to re-assume their rightful positions of leadership, there will be Sharia Law and new Crusades…

But this is now 2010… From 1776 to 1960, in our heyday of maximum "Christian" freedom, when the enemy finally began to expunge God from all "public" arenas, when did American Christians ever attempt to install the things that you fearfully speak of?

Is your accusation against ill-informed Christians, "…certain men crept in unawares…"[Jude 1:4], "…false brethren unawares brought in…"[Galatians 2:4]?!?

This is a forum intended for Christians so please be more careful when you say "we"!

PS. Check out "Pastors as leftist shills?" – http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=207565

    And:
"…from Caroline Glick who seems to have a radar for the truth, When human government becomes your "religion" and your faith-substitute then it is easy to turn your hatred towards those who oppose you. Two sentences are the most haunting:

"And they are not interested in making our lives better or more fun. They are motivated by hatred of their rivals, not love of country or devotion to peace."
