The Executioner Angels

Vic Batista: I love Revelation 19:20!

“Then the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who worked signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image. These two were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone.”

Jesus is going to capture these enemies of God. He is going to deal with the Antichrist and False Prophet with the most severe punishment possible — Hell. By this point in the Tribulation narrative, Jesus has killed all the Antichrist’s armies. Their souls are sent to Hades to await final judgment.

Now God’s mighty angels are called in to help execute the Judge’s death sentence on these two loathsome men. I’ll call them the Executioner Angels, and I don’t know how many, but they assist the Lord by casting the Antichrist and False Prophet screaming into the Lake of Fire.

Nathan Jones: Imagine the armies of the Antichrist lie strewn about all dead with the birds devouring their corpses. Satan, the Antichrist, and the False Prophet are the only ones left standing in a field of blood. I picture these three looking aghast around the battlefield and shakily realize they have nothing left to fight with. Their demons are out of the picture, likely also sent to Hades, and there are no satanic forces left but the three of them trembling together.

The Satanic Trinity are then captured by the Executioner Angels. These angels take hold of the Beast, the Antichrist, and the False Prophet who deceived the world. Jesus doesn’t even hold a trial. These three are as guilty as guilty can be for all their global atrocities and billions murdered. And so, the King of Kings has the Antichrist and False Prophet cast directly into the Lake of Fire, which is Hell. These two are the first people that we read about in the Bible who are sent to Hell, a fact most don’t know.

Vic Batista: Revelation 19 is another account in the Bible that proves there is a real place called Hell. The Lake of Fire it is not make believe. It is an awful prison where people are going to experience God’s judgment forever with no parole.

Nathan Jones: The Bible teaches that Hell is very real. It’s not a weird abstract dimensions or a fun place where you party down with your friends. Hell is a place of punishment, a place of burning, a place of destruction.

People don’t realize that every person is born with the sentence of Hell hanging over them, protected only by our youthful inability to make a decision to accept Jesus as Savior. As we grow past the Age of Accountability, we then have to decide if we want Jesus in our life or not. Jesus is our very life source, and so when we are separated from that source of life, we are separation from God Himself. Hell isn’t just awful because of the fire, but because of being separated from the source of life.

The Antichrist and False Prophet are guilty beyond measure. Their hands are stained with the blood of billions. Now justice is served and they are finally sent to Hell. What an event to celebrate!

All that remains of Satan’s Armageddon campaign are the dead bodies and all the birds called to gorge themselves on the millions that had followed the Antichrist to their deaths. As Revelation 19:21 describes, “And the rest were killed with the sword which proceeded from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse. And all the birds were filled with their flesh.”

Armageddon is a complete and utter defeat for Satan. “Flawless victory!” as the Mortal Kombat games say. Armageddon is a flawless victory for Jesus Christ.

Vic Batista: Those who were enlisted in the satanic army are the ones who had received the Mark of the Beast and worshiped the Antichrist’s image, bringing us back to the Revelation 13 reference.

Nathan Jones: We should have no pity on the people who will die at Armageddon. Those who took the Mark were declaring their allegiance to Satan. They’re the ones who continually cursed God throughout the Tribulation judgments. They continually would not repent of their sins. They would not give up their evil ways. They cruelly persecuted and murdered the Tribulation Saints and the Jews. Mercy is fine, but these people were so corrupt that judgment is due them.

When a man murders somebody, he stands before a judge and the judge sends him to life in prison or gives them the death sentence. No one would argue that the murderer doesn’t deserve to be punished. All these people — the whole planet by this time — are criminals because of their rebellious against God. They are tremendously wickedly, evil people, and they get what is coming to them by God’s own hand.

The Escape Clause

Vic Batista: Since the Tribulation has not happened yet, God provides a way of escaping this horrific future and inevitable sentence to Hell. God provides the opportunity. God provides hope while there is still time left, and that hope is found in having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Each of us can have this hope in Christ, even right now, at this moment.

Nathan Jones: The answer is in the Gospel message. God has given us this message in the Bible about the future so that we can know what the future holds. It’s a warning that we have to repent before the Tribulation begins. We cannot live life separated from Jesus Christ, for He is our life. Jesus is our all in all. To be saved from our sins and the eternal sentence of Hell, we need to give our lives to Jesus Christ by putting our faith and trust in Him.

Repent of your sins and pray to the Lord from your heart, “Dear, Jesus, please forgive me of my sins and be my Lord and Savior.” Jesus promises that because He died on the cross for your sins, because He loves you that much, that when you make Him your Savior your sins are forgiven and you no longer stand condemned before the Father.

Once saved, now you too can be rider in the army that follows Jesus Christ into battle. Or, we can reject Christ and continue to be part of Satan’s army, an army that will eventually be bird food after facing the wrath of God. The Bible gives no third option. In life you are either on God’s side or Satan’s side.

So, ask yourself, “Do I want to be on the winning side and share in Jesus Christ’s victory, or do I want to face Jesus and His heavenly armies in grisly defeat? You don’t want to do that! Give your life to Jesus Christ now, have your sins forgiven, and He promises an eternal life with Him forever in Heaven.

Vic Batista: God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life, and it is found in a relationship with Jesus Christ.

In the sixty-second segment of our series “The Mighty Angels of Revelation,” we will start in Revelation 20 with Satan being thrown into the Bottomless Pit.
