MP3: The Mighty Angels of Revelation 19 Continued
Hosts: Nathan Jones & Vic Batista
The Winning Team
Vic Batista: We are continuing our look at the incredible supper of the Great God in Revelation 19:17-21. We just heard the Angel Standing in the Sun call the carrion birds to gather and eat the feast of armies the Lord has prepared for them. Continuing with verse 19:
“And I saw the beast [Antichrist], the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against Him [Jesus] who sat on the horse and against His army. Then the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who worked signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image. These two were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone. And the rest were killed with the sword which proceeded from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse. And all the birds were filled with their flesh.”
Vic Batista: Back in Revelation 16, as the Sixth Bowl Judgment is being poured out, the passage describes a disgusting scene. Three unclean spirits are thrown up out of the mouth of the Dragon, the Beast, and the False Prophet. These three frog-like demons “go out to the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.” Now the kings and their armies have finally gathered altogether at Armageddon.
Nathan Jones: The Three Frog Demons gather the remaining kings and the people of the world together. What’s left of the world’s population after all God’s judgments have decimated humanity are led to Israel. All these people who are soldiers, free people, and slaves who are members of the Antichrist’s kingdom because they have taken his mark on their right hand or forehead, have been conscripted for battle. They’ve been drafted. Imagine an entire planet of people, except for those Jews and Christian who are being protected in the wilderness and those particular Jews holed up in Jerusalem, gathered to one spot on the earth. An entire planet is going to try and stop Jesus from returning, and will fail!An entire planet is going to try and stop #Jesus from returning, and will fail! Click To Tweet
What a contrast! The Antichrist assembles an army comprised of as much of the world’s population as he can muster in order to fight, and then Jesus Christ shows up with His armies who are merely spectators. As Christians, we will be members of Christ’s army, but we won’t get to fight. We’re just spectators. Jesus fights all by Himself using the sword of the Word of the Lord coming out of His mouth, and He destroys all who come against Him in battle.
Vic Batista: It makes you wonder why God invited us to come along. I wonder if it is to encourage us. It’s like Jesus is saying, “You all have gone through so much suffering and injustice in life, but now I’m going to put an end to it, and you can be a part of my victory.”
Nathan Jones: At Armageddon the entire Kingdom of God is watching: God the Father in Heaven, the Holy Spirit through His Church, the angelic realm, the Church, and likely even the Old Testament and Tribulation Saints. All the armies of Heaven are there to watch Christ win.
Then there’s the satanic realm watching fearfully from the other side of the battlefield. Satan throws everything he can possibly throw at Jesus, but it’s pointless, for Jesus is far too powerful. Satan, the Antichrist and his forces are easily defeated, and in just a matter of minutes. It’s not like Jesus spend weeks or months in a long, drawn-out campaign.
The sheer awesome might of Jesus and the easy defeat of Satan should, for those who are believers in Christ, give us great comfort that we are on the winning side. There’s victory in Jesus, our Savior forever! It may seem like Christians are losing the cultural battles in the here and now, but the war will be won by Jesus Christ. That truth is meant to give us great hope for the future.
In the sixty-first segment of our series “The Mighty Angels of Revelation,” it’s time to celebrate as the Antichrist is sent to Hell!
