Major Political and Theological Myths About Israel (Part 1 of 6)

Myths About Israel

There are two kinds of myths that exist today regarding the Jewish people and their state of Israel. There are the terrible theological myths that have been conjured up by Christian theologians, and then there are the political myths that have been fabricated by the political foes of modern day Israel.

The theological myths are grounded in what is called Replacement Theology. They consist of such allegations as:

1) God has washed His hands of the Jewish people because of their rejection and murder of Jesus.

2) God has replaced Israel with the Church.

3) God has transferred all the promised blessings of Israel to the Church.

4) God has no purpose left for the Jewish people.

All four of these allegations are patently false. All four are total myths, and I have addressed these myths in my writings, especially in my book, The Jewish People: Rejected or Beloved?

The Jewish People Book

A Fundamental Truth

The first point that needs to be firmly established about these myths is that they are no accident. They are firmly rooted in Satan’s obsessive hatred of the Jewish people. He hates them because:

1) They are the chosen people of God.

2) It was through them that God gave the world the Scriptures.

3) It was through them that God gave the world the Messiah.

Satan further hates the Jews because of promises God has made to them. He has promised that:

1) A great remnant of the Jews will be saved in the end times at the Second Coming of Jesus when they repent and accept Him as their Messiah (Zechariah 12:10).

2) The Jews will then be regathered to their homeland in belief (Deuteronomy 30:1-5).

3) The nation of Israel will be given all the land promised to them in the Abrahamic Covenant (Genesis 15:18-21).

4) The Jewish state will be the prime nation in the world during the Millennial reign of Jesus (Isaiah 2:1-4).

5) The blessings of God during the Millennium will flow to the nations of the world through the Jewish people (Isaiah 62:1-7).

6) The world will respect the Jewish people so much that when a Jew walks by, ten Gentiles will say, “Let us walk with you, for we know that God is with you.” (Zechariah 8:23)

Satan does not want to see a single one of these promises fulfilled, and thus he is determined to annihilate the Jewish people. That’s what the Holocaust was all about when one-fourth of them were killed. And it is the reason that he will seek to annihilate them once again during the Tribulation when he will manage to kill two-thirds of them (Zechariah 13:8).

But Satan is destined to fail because it is God’s will to bring a remnant of the Jews to repentance and salvation. And He is determined to fulfill every promise He has made to the Jewish people. The Apostle Paul affirmed this when he wrote these words:

Romans 3:1-4

1) Then what advantage has the Jew? Or what is the benefit of circumcision?

2) Great in every respect. First of all, that they [the Jews] were entrusted with the oracles of God.

3) What then? If some did not believe, their unbelief will not nullify the faithfulness of God, will it?

4) May it never be! Rather, let God be found true, though every man be found a liar…

For two thousand years the Church has answered the question posed in verse 3 above with a resounding,”Yes!” The Apostle Paul answers it with a definitive “No!” Commenting further on this subject, Paul wrote:

Romans 9:3-5

3) For I could wish that I myself were accursed, separated from Christ for the sake of my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh,

4) who are Israelites, to whom belongs the adoption as sons, and the glory and the covenants and the giving of the Law and the temple service and the promises,

5) whose are the fathers, and from whom is the Messiah according to the flesh, who is over all, God blessed forever. Amen.

These words were written after the establishment of the Church, and as you can see, Paul is affirming that God still has a relationship with Israel and has not negated His promises to them. In Romans 9 through 11, Paul makes it crystal clear that God has not washed His hands of the Jewish people and the Church has not replaced Israel. Jesus Himself said He would not return to this earth to reign until the day when the Jewish people are willing to say, “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!” (Matthew 23:37-39).

But despite these promises of God, Satan persists in his madness toward the Jewish people because he has deceived himself into believing that he can outwit God — and there is no deception worse than self-deception.

And thus, Satan is now orchestrating all the nations of the world to come against the tiny nation of Israel thru the perpetration of myths concerning the Jewish people and their nation.

Paradoxically, in the process, Satan is fulfilling Bible prophecy, for the prophet Zechariah stated 2,500 years ago that in the end times the whole world would come against Israel (Zechariah 12:2-3).

In the second part of this series on the myths regarding Israel, we will begin to look at the major political myths, especially concerning the claim that the Jewish people have no right to the land called Palestine.

  • Great topic of discussion Lamb & Lion. God always saves a remnant of his people, even amidst destruction. The Church has never replaced Israel, the Jews are and always will be God’s people, and the Christians as well. Many Jews who do not acknowledge the true Messiah will go through the Great Tribulation, ultimately they will accept who Jesus really is, the True Messiah.

Ezekiel 39: 7 And my holy name I will make known in the midst of my people Israel, and I will not let my Holy name be profaned anymore. And the nations shall know that I am the Lord, the Holy One in Israel. Behold it is coming and it will be brought about declares the Lord God. That is the day of which I have spoken.

Ezekiel 39: 25. Therefore says the Lord God: Now “I will restore the fortunes of Jacob and have mercy on “the whole house of Israel and “I will be jealous for my holy name.

The Lord is not going to hide his face from Israel, and will power out his Spirit upon the House of Israel.

Revelation 12: 1-6 The Woman’s Son Defeats the Dragon. Christ is the promised Son of Israel and has been caught up to reign with God the Father.

Everything we have read in prophesy and in the Bible has happened or is happening now and will be fulfilled, just as Christ said.

  • Yes, every Christian should love Israel. I love Israel. Listen to Jesus and love Israel by giving the Gospel to the remnant that will be saved. Only through the Gospel is anyone saved. Not by DNA.

The most important thing an American Christian can do in the latter days is to send Hebrew New Testaments to Israel. Support missionaries preaching the Gospel to Israel.

It sounds like heresy, but we do not need to send any tanks to Israel. The war seen by Ezekiel some 2600 years ago will be won by the hand of God. God has declared this to be so. Israel will win this war even if they only have slingshots.

In fact, the less weapons Israel has, the more God will be glorified in the victory.

What is the purpose of this war? God tells us in Ezekiel 38:23 ad 39:14–to Glorify God.

    Ezekiel 38:23 (NIV)
“And so I will show my greatness and my holiness, and I will make myself known in the sight of many nations. Then they will know that I am the Lord.”

    and

    Ezekiel 39:28 (NIV)
“Then they will know that I am the Lord their God, for though I sent them into exile among the nations, I will gather them to their own land, not leaving any behind. I will no longer hide my face from them, for I will pour out my Spirit on the people of Israel, declares the Sovereign Lord.”

Much more prophecy has been fulfilled than people understand. Most of the book of Revelation is a detailed warning about the coming of Islam. Most of the Book of Revelation is fulfilled.

As an example of fulfilled prophecy that has been missed, what about the Holocaust? The “time of trouble for Jacob.” Of course, it is in the Bible. How could God have forgotten to put this in the Bible?

The prophecy of Zechariah 13:8 has been fulfilled. It was the Holocaust. According to Israel Government archives, 5,933,900 Jews were killed out of 8,861,800 in the whole land controlled by Nazis and Muslims. This is 66.9%, or two thirds.

Do Christians who love Israel really want another two thirds to be killed???

    Zechariah 13:8 (NIV)
In the whole land,” declares the Lord, “two-thirds will be struck down and perish; yet one-third will be left in it.

In the whole land controlled by the Nazis in WW II, including help from Muslims in the Middle East, especially Mohammed Amin al-Husseini, the Islamic Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, two thirds of all Jews were killed in the lands they controlled.

  • Thank you for your ministry, which has been a great blessing and source of information that is rooted firmly in scripture. I am in complete agreement with your post. We have much to look forward to when Israel is again grafted back into the olive tree and God’s plan is fully manifested, Rom 9:12,15.

  • Zechariah 12 is the Prophecy: The word of the Lord concerning Israel.

The Lord, who stretches out the heavens, who lays the foundation of the earth, and who forms the human spirit within a person, declares, “I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that sends all the surrounding peoples reeling, Judah will be besieged as well as Jerusalem.

On that day when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations. All who try to move it will injure themselves. On that day I will strike every horse with panic and its rider with madness,” declares the Lord. “I will keep a watchful eye over Judah, but I will blind all the horses of the nations. Then the clans of Judah will say in their hearts, “The people of Jerusalem are strong, because the Lord Almighty is their God.

On that day I will make the clans of Judah like a firepot in a woodpile, like a flaming torch among sheaves. They will consume all the surrounding peoples right and left, but Jerusalem will remain intact in her place.

7 The Lord will save the dwellings of Judah first, so that the honor of the house of David and of Jerusalem’s inhabitants may not be greater than that of Judah. On that day the Lord will shield those who live in Jerusalem, so that the feeblest among them will be like David, and the house of David will be like God, like the angel of the Lord going before them. On that day I will set out to destroy all the nations that attack Jerusalem.”

Those who oppose God’s people will not prevail in this final siege of the people of Jerusalem.

  • Our class discussed Revelation and Revelation is a book of hope, John the beloved apostle and eye witness of Jesus, proclaimed that the victorious Lord would return to vindicate the righteous and judge the wicked.

Revelation is also a book of warning. Things were not as they should have been in the churches, so Christ called the members to commit themselves to live in righteousness.

Although Jesus gave this revelation of himself to John nearly 2,000 years ago, it still stands as a comfort and challenge to God’s people today. We can take heart as we understand John’s vision of hope. Christ will return to rescue his people and settle accounts with all who defy him.

John begins the book by explaining how he received this revelation from God. Revelation portrays the future rise of evil, culminating in the antichrist, then John’s recounting of the triumph of the King of Kings, the wedding of the Lamb, the final judgment, and the coming of the New Jerusalem. Revelation concludes with the promise of Christ’s soon return.

Listen as Christ warns the churches, and root out any sin that blocks your relationship with him. Be full of hope, knowing God is in control, Christ’s victory is assured, and all who trust in him will be saved.

  • Satan invests his energy in attacking what God loves, and Jerusalem and God’s Chosen People are prime targets. Consequently, the Jewish people must constantly defend their historical connection to their beloved city. Satan focuses his efforts on Israel, because Jerusalem plays a vital role in God’s plan to make all things new, he generates the lies and hate and causes the darkness, death, and war we observe in the world.

Satan believes he can disrupt God’s role for Jerusalem, the city of peace, and obstruct God’s plan to bring everlasting peace on Earth through His Son, Jesus the Messiah.

Satan deceives the world into believing Jerusalem does not belong to the God of Israel. Psalms 137:7

King David wrote. “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May they prosper who love you.” Psalms 122:6.

Satan does not win in the end. Revelation 20:10.
