The Divinity of Jesus: Creator

Was the real Jesus actually the Creator?

Lamb & Lion Ministries conducts a number of Bible conferences in the Dallas, Texas area each year. Our June 2010 conference theme was “Defending the Faith”.

Eric BargerOne of our guest speakers was Eric Barger, the founder and director of Take a Stand! Ministries headquartered in the Dallas area. Eric is an authority on the cults, the New Age, and rock music today. From his past as a former drug addict and rock n’ roll musician who was deeply involved in the New Age movement, Eric has emerged since he gave his life to Jesus Christ to become one of today’s greatest defenders of Christianity in America.

Eric’s topic at our conference was “The Truth of Jesus’ Divinity” (watch). He did a remarkable job explaining that Jesus Christ is truly Creator God in the flesh as the Bible teaches.

Jesus as Creator

Who is the real Jesus? Who the real Jesus is, is what I want to talk about, because we have the testimony of the Word of God about who Jesus is. Through all the misconceptions and misrepresentations, we are accountable to what the Bible says and nothing else when it comes to who Jesus is.

We have to come back and test everything by the Scriptures, because Jesus is the Creator. John 1:1 declares, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God, the same was in the beginning with God all things were made by Him, and without Him was not anything made, that was made. In Him was life and the life was the light of men, and the light shineth in the darkness, and the darkness comprehended it not.” In other words, the world did not receive Him. Jesus is the Creator. The Word came, the Logos came. He was the Word. He was the Creator. He was God.

John 1:14 tells us, “The Word became flesh and dwelled among us.” Colossians 1 says, “Who is the image of the invisible God, the first born of every creature, for by Him were all things created.” Notice the theme here — Jesus is the Creator. “By Him all things were created that are in Heaven, that are in earth, visible, and invisible, whether they be thrones or dominions or principalities, or powers, all things were created by Him and for Him and He is before all things, and by him all things consist.” In other words, if He didn’t exist, we couldn’t. That is what the Scriptures are teaching here. It pleased the Father that in Him should all fullness dwell.

Hebrews 1 describes, “God, who at sundry times and in diverse manners spake in times past unto the fathers by the prophets.” In other words, to the Jewish fathers to the early Jews he spoke by the prophets. “Hath in this day in the last days spoken unto us by His Son, whom He hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also He made the worlds.” Again, Jesus is portrayed as the Creator. “Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high.” Praise God!

There are seven magnificent revelations about Jesus that we see here in Hebrews 1:2-3.

  1. He is the heir of all things.
  2. He created the Universe.
  3. He radiates God’s glory.
  4. He is the perfect representation of God.
  5. He is the complete representation of God.
  6. Without Him nothing could exist.
  7. He provides the only possible freedom from sin.

That is the message of just those 2 verses. Is it any wonder to us who have studied the Bible very long that the Bible is so rich that we will never really get it all? Give me more Jesus! Give me more time to spend in His Word that we will know what the truth is, so we will have it in our hearts and we will share it with mankind.

In the next segment of Eric Barger’s sermon on “The Truth of Jesus’ Divinity,” we’ll examine the testimonies of those who say that Jesus is divine.

  • Brothers and Sisters,
I regret to inform you that the belief, no matter how many writers and "experts" are referenced, that the scripture tells us that we will be raptured prior to the "great tribulation" is false and cannot be proved using scripture unless you begin to fabricate evidence. A major topic of discussion is that we are not appointed unto Wrath. This is true, but the great tribulation and the wrath are two totally separate and distinct time periods. Nowhere in scripture is there a reference to a 7 year tribulation. This is inferred from the 70th week prophecy of daniel 9:25-27. This passage of scripture clearly states that the Messiah is the one who confirms the covenant for 7 years (1 week) but was cut off in the middle of the week. He was crucified after 3.5 years of earthly ministry. All that is left if 3.5 years which is the complete and total time of the tribulation. Chrisitans will see the revealing of the man of sin prior to our gathering together unto the Lord. After this revelation of the man of sin there will be 3.5 years of tribulation, then the gathering at the 7th trumpet. Revelation 14:14 clearly describes the "Son of man" coming on the clouds to reap his harvest, then immediately after another angel gathers together for the wine-press of the "wrath" of God. There is no salvation after this point. Read the parable of the 10 virgins. The foolish 5 virgins did not get in after the door was shut. Jesus is the door. Notice that after noah closed the door, noone else was saved. Why do we continue to lie to people and tell them that they will have a chance to be saved after the rapture??? This is a lie, which I personally believe to be part of the great deception. Wake up people and study the scripture. Stop listening to these false prophets on TV.
Once the door closes (the rapture) noone else will be spared the wrath of the Almighty Father. Christians, prepare yourself to die for Jesus and endure terrible tribulation (persecution) at the hands of the antichrist, not at the hand of the Father.
I love you all brothers and sisters. Please don't be decieved. Study the scriptures and listen to the Holy Spirit.
Dispensationalism is a lie also, but that's for another post.
These false prophets are making millions of dollars off of you because of your ignorance.
With Love, Your brother in Yahushua ha Mashiyach (Jesus the Christ)

  • The Time of Jacob's Trouble or Tribulation is a heptad or one week represented by 7 years to fulfill the 490 years determined upon the people of Israel and the Holy City Jerusalem.
Make no mistake the Rapture will occur prior to this time of wrath, as Noah and his family was sealed by God in the Ark prior to the flood and Lot and his family removed from Sodom prior to it's destruction. These were saved by faith, as will we be from destruction.

Those Saints that will be beheaded for the testimony of Christ and the Word of God, will have come to faith in Christ as a result of the 144,000 Jewish evangelists sealed by God to preach the gospel. The Church age will have ended with the Holy Spirit being poured out on the House of Israel during the consumation of the Gog/Magog battle of Ezekiel 38-39.

These Jewish bearers of the Gospel will be selected from the 12 Tribes, much like their former counterparts, the Apostles of our Lord Yeshua to bring the Lost Sheep of Israel into the fold. This message will also reach the Gentiles from afar. If that were not enough a mighty angel will also share the Gospel with mankind.
The time of the Church is coming to a close and the Lord God is preparing Israel to fulfill their obligation as Priests, for the natural branches will again be grafted in. See Romans 11:23.

  • The pouring out of the 'Stong Delusion" from the Hand of God is to them that refuse to believe and love a lie, who embrace fables and despise the truth. Those that are filthy, they will be filthy still. As long as the Holy Spirit is present and in operation even during the Tribulation, the offer of salvation will continue. The Wrath of God is to convince the ungodly that they turn from their wicked ways and repent, this is the purpose of the judgement upon the nations. The Holy Spirit convicts us of sin, calling us to repentance, leading us unto all truth, and showing us things yet to come-John 16:8-13.

  • "Study the scriptures and listen to the Holy Spirit."

I have. I suggest you study a little deeper.

Malachi 3 states God never changes.

God removed the righteous: Noah and his family before the flood.

God removed the righteous: God sent angels and physically removed Lot and his family before he sent judgment on Sodom.

God removed righteous: God hid and protected Rahab and everyone in her apartment from the destruction of Jericho.

Revelation 3:10 Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come on the whole world to test the inhabitants of the earth.

1 Thessalonians 5:9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ.

Why is the church not mentioned in Revelation after Revelation 3???

So, God removed the righteous before every event in the Bible that he personally judged, and yet he completely changes his method of passing judgment now? All 7 years of Tribulation is wrath from God, so according to you I guess Malachi 3 is a lie?

  • Sue, I got the confirmation, but didn't see the post. Blogger posting snafu I'd imagine. Here's it reposted below.

    Anonymous brother

I began to dissect your Prewrath post but frankly I have toothache and can’t be bothered.

The 70th Week of Daniel (for Daniels people, the Jews) also called the Time of JACOB’S Trouble known by Jesus as The Tribulation, is a shavuah (seven) of years akin to our ‘dozen’ of something e.g eggs, roses… which is divided into two equal parts of 3 ½ yrs x 2 = 7yrs. That isn’t inference, that’s simple maths.

Context! context! context! The Scriptures can be squeezed and pummelled to mean whatever you fancy by failing to use a normal, sensible, grammatical interpretation such as used by the Prophets, Jesus and the Apostles.

Ordinary dispensationalists also preferring to read prophecy in the same manner, rejecting the allegorical method used by Covenant Theology invented by Origen, adopted by Rome via Augustine in order to twist and wiggle spiritual meanings out of plain sensible text.

If I want to read an author’s work in addition to the Bible, I buy it voluntarily just as you have undoubtedly bought (in more way’s than one) Marvin Rosenthals modern Gnostic invention of Pre-wrath.

This is yet another attempt to rob the believer of the blessed hope in the imminent return of Jesus, and the reward He gives for it.

Go to the Critical Issues Commentary where they have exposed the faulty Pre-wrath view in a scholarly manner.

Sorry if I sound grouchy – I am a tad!
God bless you in your quest for the truth.

  • Thank you Nathan

    A blogger posting snafu?

Whatever that is, I am thankful to be reassured I wasn't being censored for being naughty!

    God bless you. 🙂

  • The anony first post is a copy and paste job. He typed exactly the same thing on CIP facebook. Apparently couldn't back up his claims and drifted here.
