Truth of the Creation: False Assumptions

Is Evolution based on false assumptions?

Lamb & Lion Ministries conducts a number of Bible conferences in the Dallas, Texas area each year. Our June 2010 conference theme was Defending the Faith.

Dr. Jobe MartinOne of our guest speakers was Dr. Jobe Martin, former dentist, professor and Evolutionist turned Creationist. Having clearly seen God’s eternal power and divine nature from what has been made (Rom. 1:20), Dr. Martin came to faith in Jesus Christ and a trust in the biblical account of the six days of Creation. He and his wife Jenna Dee have since formed Biblical Discipleship Ministries based in Rockwall, Texas to teach on campuses, classrooms and churches that we can trust the Bible’s account of the Creation and Jesus as Savior.

Dr. Martin’s topic at our conference was “The Truth of the Creation” (watch). He did a remarkable job showing how the Creation account is the only origins account that stands the empirical tests of time.

Evolution and False Assumptions

When looking at the assumptions of the Evolutionists, I began to realize that their assumptions just aren’t valid. What do we see out there? Whether it is a fossil, whether it is a living thing, it is a discrete entity. We can name it. It’s not in between anything. We don’t see ducky-chicks. We don’t see horsy-cows, okay. We don’t see things like this in the genes. Why? Well, because God created each thing after its own kind.

There are other assumptions Evolutionists make. They assume that there would be no Carbon-14 in diamonds because diamonds are 500,000,000 years old. And so, nobody ever bothered to look. Some Creation Scientists about 6 years ago decided, “Let’s go look.” We believe in a young universe. If it is young maybe there is carbon 6,000 years old. Maybe there is Carbon-14 in diamonds. That means diamonds can only be a few thousand years old. They still indeed have measurable amounts of Carbon-14.

In recent studies with dinosaurs, they are finding red blood cells and soft, elastic tissue inside the bones. Well, you can’t have a 68,000,000 year old dinosaur with red blood cells in its bones; maximum a few thousand years. And so, the evidence keeps piling up.

Do you know what? The Creation is true. It’s as God described it. We can trust His Bible. For evidence, it is like God is saying, “Look, I will show you a few things here.” So He does.

What does Proverb 14:12 say? “There is a way that seems right to man, but in the end they are the ways of death.” I think that verse is talking about the Big Bang and billions of years and Evolution. That is deception, and Satan’s world system is based on deception.

There is a way then. We are going to take one way or the other way, and there are eternal consequences to both ways. We have to decide then who determines what is true. Does man determine what is true? Or, does God determine what is true? There are consequences to such a decision. If man determines truth, then we are presented with a system of origins that claims mindless, accidental, random chance, non-directive, non-purposeful, non-intentional processes over billions of years evolved everything — animate, inanimate, everything, and the universe itself.

For example, you know they tell us that the Big Bang created space and time. Well, how could an explosion create space? Doesn’t space have to be there for it to go somewhere? It is unbelievable what I used to believe.

If it is just random chance processes, why don’t we have these kinds of transitional animals out there? Well, it is because God created everything after its own kind. Look at what He says in 1 Corinthians 15. He says, “All flesh is not the same flesh, there is one kind of flesh of men and another flesh of beast, another of fishes another of birds.” And so, you will never see those transitional creatures.

Now, if the God of the Bible determines what is true, then we have His account of the history of the universe, including the origin of mankind and the actual identity of the the Creator Himself written in His Word the Bible, which is true. Who is the Creator? Well, God the Father in the power of the Holy Spirit through the agency of the Lord Jesus created everything. Read John 1, Colossians 1 and Hebrews 1.

John 1 states, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him; and without Him was not anything made that was made. In Him was life; and the life was the light of men.”

Colossians 1 states, “For by Him were all things created that are in heavens and that are in the earth, invisible and visible, whether they be thrones or dominions or principalities, or powers: all things were created by Him, and for Him. And He is before all things, and by Him all things consist.” God holds it altogether. He is holding you altogether right now!

Hebrews 1 tells us, “God, who at sundry times and in diverse manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds.” So Jesus is the Creator. If He is the Creator, than let’s believe what He says about His account of origins as written in Genesis.

There is a popular objection that pops up claiming, “Genesis, it is just poetry, its myth, it is symbol, it was never intended to be taken literally.” Well, wait a minute here! The dramatical word order of Hebrew poetry is: subject, verb, object. “God created the beast,” that is how it reads in English, but that is not how it reads in Hebrew. The Hebrew narrative is: verb, subject, object. “Created God the beast,” that is how it reads. Genesis is written in straight forward Hebrew narrative. Now, there is a little poetry in there here and there, but for the most part it is narrative. It is not poetry. It is intended to be read as accurate Hebrew historical narrative. It is God’s history of what He did. He told what He did, the order in which He did it in, and it is in narrative. He expects us to believe it.

In the next segment on the “Truth of the Creation,” Dr. Jobe Martin looks at the building blocks of your worldview.
