Dr. David Reagan: Why is it that every time we flip on the television today we see somebody making some off the wall comment or proposal? Something that is beyond common sense? Something that is so depraved that it is hard to believe?
Every time I flip on the TV I think of Romans 1, because Romans 1 talks about what a society is like that is in rebellion against God. Romans says that one of the things that will happen when a society rebels against God and sets it’s jaw against God and refuses to repent even when God sends prophets calling it to repentance, that God will step back, lower the hedge of protection, and allow sin to multiply. Romans says the first thing that will happen will be a sexual revolution. Well, that occurred in this country in the 1960s. Then it says that if the nation continues to rebel against God and refuse to repent, that God will step back a second time, lower the hedge of protection, allow sin to multiply, and there will be a plague of homosexuality; and that is exactly what happened in this nation in the 1970s, 80s, and 90s. Then Romans says that if the nation still refuses to repent, even after God has sent prophetic voices and remedial judgments, that God will step back a third time, and that will be the last time. He will lower that hedge and allow sin to multiply, and it says that He will turn the nation over to depraved minds. What evidence do we have in America today of the depravity of mind?
Tim Moore: Boy! We’re there already. As you said, the world experienced a sexual revolution that took place in the 1960s and continues to this day. The sexual revolution is only multiplying in its impact and accelerating in its depravity.
Dr. David Reagan: We have people advocating the legalization of prostitution, and pedophilia, and polygamy.
Tim Moore: Yes, pedophilia, that used to be an abhorrent thought to most people. Today we actually have groups that are advocating for that crime. We have politicians who are advocating for children to have free reign over their own independent lives, and sexuality even at young ages.
You mentioned the fact that we as a nation have embraced same-sex marriage, even having the White House decorated in rainbow colors back in the previous Obama administration. We have people representing groups that want to give reparations to homosexual groups, to transgender groups, and to all sort of racial and ethnic divisions because of past injustices.
Dr. David Reagan: These are things that happened over a hundred years ago!
Tim Moore: Exactly, right. Marijuana is being purported as being the salvation to man’s woes, and not just economically for government revenue. On and on the depraved mind goes.
Dr. David Reagan: A professor from Harvard University just recently said we have to get rid of homeschooling because parents have too much influence on their children.
Tim Moore: You’d think that would only be some sort kind of crank at Harvard University, or some Leftist. Those kinds of advocacies are happening all across the nation in independent state legislatures. I saw it in Kentucky. And, of course, one of the greatest demonstrations of the depravity of mind is this embracing of gender dysphoria, in trying to tell young people, “Well, you may have been born something, but you can define who you are regardless of what your Creator said.”
Dr. David Reagan: They’re telling teachers that they cannot refer to their students as boys and girls anymore. It’s just insanity!
Tim Moore: Yes, sir it is.
Dr. David Reagan: Well, what is the solution?
Tim Moore: The solution to everything is to put our faith in Jesus Christ and get back into the Word of God. This is His revealed truth. If you know Jesus Christ, you will know the truth. If you study His Word — the Bible — it is the revealed truth of God. It will protect you from the depravity of mind.
I love what Paul wrote to the Ephesians when He said, “I say this, and affirm together with the Lord, that you walk no longer just as the Gentiles also walk, in the futility of their mind, being darkened in their understanding, excluded from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardness of their heart” (Ephesians 4:17-18). And, that is exactly what we are seeing all around us being manifest.
So, our prayer each and every day is people will come to an understanding of Jesus Christ as the Son of God, and the truth that is revealed in Scripture, and will look forward to Jesus’ soon return.
